skin type - oily, sensitive breakout prone 40's

I had received a sample tube of this sunscreen from the Clinique counter. I can use the Clinique City Block 40 with no problems. (It can be drying in the winter.)
I was impressed that it was just zinc oxide and titanium dioxide as active ingredients for the sunscreen. It went on nicely; blended well. Looks nice on the skin as just a sunscreen - no greasy sheen. I think there might be a slight tint to the product as I am quite fair and it looked like I had a little colour.(Maybe the iron oxides; common ingredient in mineral makeup.

I applied and went to work. My Mineral makeup went over it nicely. (As I am a MMU addict my sunscreen must be compatible with my MMU) I got to work and my face felt like it was flushed. I have reactive skin but I have NOT reacted to a PHYSICAL filters sunscreen. (Lots of them I don't like for various reasons. I have tried lots.) I got home from work and washed my face. My face was blotchy so I applied my Rosacure lotion (see review) after a gentle cleanse. It has taken a couple of days for my face to settle down. I was hoping this would be a soothing sunscreen as my face does well with zinc oxide in general (other sunscreens and mineral makeup)

Long list of ingredients and I really don't know what the problem ingredient is. (I am guessing the botanicals.) I recommend trying to get a sample first. Also apply in a small area first. Don't do what I did; full face of it then out for the day! I am sure for most people this would be a nice everyday sunscreen.

It is a good primer and sunscreen but not suitable for oily or combination skin.

I would use this up on back of hands. You should be able to use it on arms, I don't think the tint would rub off.

I very often use sunscreens not suitable for face on hands, arms.

I tried the tinted one, and my friend said it looked good. It looked like I had foundation on. She said she liked it for me.

I think it's only an average sunscreen. I appreciated the slight color tint. I did not like the chemical smell, the greasy/oily seperation that has me shaking the tube like mad. And I thought that the product claims of its oil absorbing, perspiration wicking abilities were greatly exaggerated.

I think they changed the formulation a while back so it's not as good as it used to be. It's a shame that they change things that were already perfect

The product I reviewed came out in 2007 to Canada.

There was a Clinique SPF 25 that had different ingredients, no tint and the physical sunscreen filter was just titanium dioxide.

The one with just titanium dioxide had been discontinued.

I have had products that I love be discontinued and it is maddening!

My review is for the new product with zinc and titanium dioxide. I think this came out in Canada in 2007.

Ingredient list is posted with my review at the top of this thread.
