Through my own experience, I found that a variety of chem sunscreens seemed to exacerbate my melasma. When I went to a lower PPD all mineral SS, it cleared amazingly. I found one small thread on this issue here involving the ingredient octinoxate:

But I haven't found any real info on this elsewhere. Does anyone have any good links, experience or insight on the topic to share.
PS
I am not "anti-chem SS" just found it wasn't for me particularly in connection with melasma. |

Don't know of any studies, but if you find something that irritates you, then you should stop using it. And if you find something that helps, then keep using it, like your physical sunscreen. whether or not there is a scientific link between the two doesn't really matter, it's just how your skin likes it or not. Oh and you link doesn't work btw lol |
