Hello everyone

I have been an avid reader of essentialday spa recently as I have been on a quest to better my skin.

I recently purchased the super expensive Phloretin CF by Skinceuticals...however, it's REALLY dried out my skin. Right now I feel like someone is pulling on my skin, it's so tight. It's also causing that "oily sheen" that comes with extreme dryness.

I've been using it followed by a B5 serum then Neutrogena sheer SPF30.

Do I need to stop using this product completely (when this product is near finishing I am definitely trying out Skinceuticals CEF rather than Phloretin) or can I prevent dryness by putting on a VERY good moisturiser over the B5 serum and under the (sheer, oil free) sunblock? I don't want to waste the money I have spent!

Please help! Does anyone have an experience with this at all? Thank you!!!!!

(Note, I purchased Phloretin as I have a few mild sunspots; I also think my skin may have recently become dry due to moving to a polluted city recently- the pollution seems to have dried everything out).

I haven't tried this product, but it looks interesting. It's a C serum right? Are you using it just once a day in the morning?

I would definitely recommend using a moisturiser on top, then a sunscreen. Maybe your skin is sensitive to the Vitamin C (which is an acid). Try a good moisturiser before you give up on the product.

I believe the Phloretin CF has quite a bit of alcohol in it--perhaps you're sensitive to that, or at least need to save it for when your skin is oilier (like summer)?

The CE Ferulic doesn't have alcohol and is less drying.

What is your skin type?

The CF is alcohol based, I'm not surprised your skin is so dry. I'd stop using it, atleast until your skin returns to normal and then may use just 2-3 a week to try to use it up. But if you skin is dry/sensitive I wouldn't use it at all.

The B5 isn't really a moisturizer when use alone, its just HA & B5, you need to use another moisturizer with it.

Thanks for the replies.

I would say my skin is normal/combination (oily around T zone) usually but I'm thinking in the past few months it could have become dry due to living in such a polluted city since June last year (part of the reason why I thought it might be a good idea to buy a good antioxidant; the UV light here is strong and pollution is REALLY bad).

It could be the alcohol; I will try to put on a really heavy moisturiser over the B5 and the Ferulic and under my sunscreen....but if that doesn't work, I'd be happy to send my bottle to anyone who wants it as otherwise it's going in the bin!

I live in a humid climate, am normal to slightly oily, and still had the phloretin dry me out somewhat. (But my skin is sensitive.)

I would suggest cutting down application. Or just go ahead and get the CEF to alternate with. Smile

i found Skinceuticals CEF is slightly oily. May be my skin type is combination type; therefore i found Phloretin is just right for me
