I'm 25 and about to turn 26 this year. I want to be that 50 year old one day who gets mistaken for a 40 yr old. What is your beauty secret for staying young?
My regimin includes skin exfoliation with clarisonic, Vitamin C serum, Retin-A, staying out of the sun. |

What you're doing will help you as much as anything. Have a low glycemic diet that includes plenty of protein also. Exercise regularly to maintain muscle mass. |

The best beauty secret is habit.
Always be in the habit of applying your skincare, exfoliation, and sunscreen. Keeping your weight in a normal range by following a sound diet and exercise plan and manage your stress. When you are a bit older you can add the goodies like facial exercise, etc. Make it an enjoyable lifestyle. I am almost 50 and people think I am younger. Keep your routines simple and doable. Nothing makes you look more youthful than a flexible body and smooth skin.
You seem to be on the right track. |

No.1 tip:stay out of the sun, take vit d supplements instead. Botox will keep you from getting future wrinkles. Quality skincare.Healthy diet(raw food).Vitamins, drink lots of water.Keep weight fluctuations down as yoyo dieting tends to stretch the skin on the face and make it sag. |

Eat healthy, keep your weight down, don't drink alcohol or caffine in excess, don't smoke, and avoid sun damage (excessive suntanning or burns), but get lots of exercise and good, quality sleep. Avoid stress as much as possible too.
I've done these things and just got carded today - at 52!
I've always exercised at least 3-4X/wk (hour long classes or 90 minutes at a gym), my weight was always within 10 lbs of what I weighed when I was 20 (until I hit perimenopause, then add about 5 lbs), I only started to drink coffee about 6 years ago but then switched to tea 3 year ago (so less caffine), and I've never been one to tan much and lately have gone the spray-on-tan route when I do need color.
I only started to feel like I was aging when I hit my 40's. That was after a few years after acquiring a boat and spending summers on it with the kids. The sun definitely took its toll on my skin that started showing up in my early 40s and I started to look pretty old. I attempted to correct my sundamage back then with various products, but it wasn't until I started using copper peptides in my late 40's that things turned around for me. I've also added some skincare gadgets to my routine that have enhanced the results I gained from CPs. I should mention that I had used Retin A on occasion for acne in my late 30's and 40's.
Your routine of exfoliation, Vit C, Retin A and limited sun exposure will serve you well for now. Add exercises, diet and keeping the stress low will keep you on an even keel. Don't overdo the alcohol or caffine! And you shouldn't avoid the sun entirely, just keep it to about 10-15 minutes a day (w/ no SS) to get your Vit D. |

My beauty secret is Paulas Choice 2% BHA liquid. Does not aggravate my skin, keeps acne at bay AND exfoliates!
Question - I am starting with Vitamin C Serum and purchased IS Clinical Super serum. It smells mediciny and is very dark brown. Does that mean it has oxidized? Is is bad to use? I heard that once vitamin C oxidized, it can actually be bad for your skin? (will be bummed if it is bad since I paid US$130.00 ) |

If the color has turned yellow-brown and is not clear that means it has oxidized. Once it's oxidized it's of no use to the skin...i've never heard that it's actually bad for the skin though. Many companies make their vitamin C products appear yellow so that if the product has oxidized there is no way of knowing....stay away from companies that do this. I just make home-made vitamin C...it's a lot cheaper and you can tell when the product has oxidized or not....if it has, it's no big deal, you can just make another batch. |

I don't have a HG product...just a mind set:
Accept that you will get older no matter what you do. It sounds simple, but it is hard to accept sometimes. It was for me. When I hit 35 I started noticing that things were starting to catch up (ie sun-damage, light wrinkles around the eyes, etc). It wasn't anything others said, but I noticed the changes and that really sucks. Esp. when I started to notice that my skin didn't bounce back like it did in my 20's. Good night, if I miss a nights sleep now I swear I look 5 years older!!
My secret: Just be the best version of you that you can be.
What am I talking about? Well, take me... I will never be as beautiful as Angelina Jolie no matter how many beauty products I slather on. I won't have her skin or hair or lips. I also will never be my 20 year old self again. I didn't appreciate how good i looked back then and 10 years from now I will probably be thinking the same thing about my 38 year old self. bahaha!
BUT I CAN strive to be the best looking I can be right now. If I give up and didn't do anything (which I"m starting to see some of my peers doing), then I WILL look old, but I accept that I look how I look and to continue with up keep and I feel good about me. I will never be Angelina beautiful, but I CAN be ME beautiful. Does that sound weird? I hope not. It's early here and I just got the baby back to sleep. Hope I don't sound like a nut job. I am kinda tired. Bobbi Brown's Philosophy helped me with this and its my inner chant when I look in the mirror and don't' like the older version of me i see...hehehe
Its what I'm trying to teach my girls. Each one of us are unique and that is beautiful.
Although in the distant future when food is in pill form -I'd still like Angelina's skin. |

as long as that dim lighting isn't fluorescent!
Really, everyone has pretty much covered the important parts...just be happy! That is what I am trying to do now that I am 40. I had my "freak out" moment with aging the last 3 years....now that I am 40, I feel better because DAMN I look great for someone that has a "4" in front of their age now it is merely upkeep and growing old with my head held high. |

Mine is education. I am 60 next year and people guess me to be around 44. I read everything there is on skincare research and general anti-aging of the entire body. Then, if judged sane I act on it. I agree with Kassy as well. Love and laughter keep the soul young and the rest follows. |

For skincare I would say use sunscreen every day and a eye cream.
I've always used some sunscreen as I burn easily.
But i hate sunscreen on my face so now use sunscreen powder-like colorscience.
but those powders you need to use a lot of the or they do not work well.
I've probably used eye cream since being 15 years old or so-mainly because my eye area is dry.
usually I do not use anything expensive-sometimes stuff like Nivea aqua something or olay eye gel,now I also use neostrata wrinkle repair in the eye area.
But I would also say try not to eat too much stuff that has preservatives.
I love eating out and french fries-but I always go to the places that use fresh potatoes and only vegetable oil for that and at home have baked fries.
that means I almost never go to a fast food chain, but to a lot of smaller local places that are good.
I also happen to like bacon, smoked meats ect-but I have found some stores near me that make smoked chicken every day and they just use real chicken and actual wood for the smoke.
for bacon I only buy all natural organic bacon and there is just 3 ingredients in that.
So maybe try and eat more organic and natural meats if you do eat meats.
I don't think I've bought any regular "cold cut" type things in at least 2 years.
now when I go to a regular grocery store I think everything there is weird for the meats and cold cuts (I usually go to a butcher who makes stuff and sells to restaurants) or else a farmer food co-op
Right now I'm 34 and usually am told I look around 25...so that is good so far.
my sister who is much younger then me has wrinkles already |

In addition to all that's been said in order to make the leap in your 30s and not be sorry when you're 40 you need to find your look and what colors look best on you. Get a hair color and stick with it. I stopped referring to a 1980s system called Color Me Beautiful in my 20s and am really sorry because of how lightening my hair in my 30s wrecked my overally look and self esteem. Get clear on what season you are and what kind of look you want to project-- you will look better and people will take you more seriously. If you don't get your coloring straight you may make many needless makeup and wardrobe mistakes and won't be the best you can be.
The new CMB is called Seasonal Color Analysis. There is information about it on Facebook and various websites. The Chic Fashionista is an excellent website all around:

Truth is Beauty is very informative:

The one thing I keep forgetting is to ease up and give my skin a break every now and again. Its so easy to overdo things. Whenever I remember this, the glow comes back.
When you're using multiple products & treatments, its hard to tell what's working and what's damaging. And what could be causing trouble when its used in tandem with other products (or treatments).
So I think my "beauty secret" is going to be my flexibility. I'm not going to continue strict regimens JUST because we've been told that's best, or because they've become habitual. The "tough love", suffering for some future payoff approach may not be for me. I'm going to try to remember to coddle my skin (& myself) more! |

I was so obsessed with having good skin. It was always a battle for me and with age and help of my doctor, I look better then ever before. I still get very, very annoyed when I'm told that I look in my early twenties, when I am only 38.
I have to agree with others to maintain your routine. Exfoliation, washing off makeup every day, moisturizing, including the eye & neck; and sunblock are instant beautiful skin. For long term, I still swear by vitamin C and as for my acne treatment, prescribed RetinA cream.
I don't sleep a lot or if I don't get enough sleep, I have to take a nap. Caffeine and sugar is still part of my diet...life is too short to cut out on things you love.
I am no longer afraid of aging because over the years, I learn wisdom and confidence make a world of a difference.
As for makeup, I wear much less now. There are times when I need foundation, but I am not afraid to go outside without it. The colours you wear and the clothes you wear help with the overall appearance of yourself. Wearing the hip hugging, tight hugging on the crack of your cheeks can't bring back youth. It's all about class.
Drinking pure coconut water, eating papaya & fish helped me also. |
