I am trying to find a fabric similar to the first/front one in the link below with which to make curtains for my kitchen...a red and white stripe French ticking.
http://www.etsy.com/transaction/56283846
Problem is, the drapery shops I have visited do not have anything available to order from their suppliers that is white - there is a lot of cream/ivory background with red stripe, but no white. They also have something that looks like a circus tent stripe (red and white stripes of equal width repating) but I do not like that either.
Does anyone have any idea where to find a crisp white and saturated red stripe fabric similar to the above? If it had a narrow bit of black or grey stripe that would be ok too. I need about 5yards, but could make do with a bit less or would be willing to purchase a bit more if fabric minimums were required. Fabric content isn't a dealbreaker either - be it cotton, linen, rayon etc., it doesn't matter.
Thank you! |

That fabric reminds me of kitchen towels back in the 50's & 60's. Depending on the length of your curtains maybe you could use linen kitchen towels. Google red & white kitchen towels and maybe something will come up. |

Internet! Also try ebay or craigslist - Someone may be selling a stash. |

If it doesn't have to be vintage, check fabricguru.com.
That is one of my favorite fabric remnant sources...they have a very wide variety and ship super fast. You can also search their site by color and yardage, which can be a big help.
Depending on how much they have available, you can sometimes order samples. |

Thank you for the suggestions - I had never heard of Fabric Guru and that's an amazing website! Through there I found a few possibilites...and if they don't work out, I might attempt sewing together some kitchen towels as a last resort!
