I'm asian so my freckles are dark... and down right ugly. I want to get rid of them or lighten them in three months.

I was thinking of purchasing retin-a through alldaychemist in different percentage hoping it will get rid of my freckles.

Is this a good idea or what would you suggest in getting rid of freckles?

Retin-A won't do it in 3 months. You'd need to combine it with strong peels and the use of other lightening agents like kojik acid, niacinamide, ascorbic acid (c serums) and maybe even hydroquinone. The problem with combining lots of topicals is that they may irritate your skin.

IMO your best bet would be to visit a derm and get dome IPL or laser treatment for them. The results will be almost instant, and you may only need one or two treatments to get rid of the bulk of what's troubling you. Then something like Retin-A might help to finish off the job.

I agree--Retin A is great, but it hasn't done a thing for my freckles in 6 months. 2% hydroquinone in Paula's Choice Skin lightening gel worked as a spot treatment to remove some of my light remaining freckles in 3 months, but not the dark ones, and the light ones are coming back now, two months later. (It's taken 3 or 4 years of obsessive sun protection to fade the vast majority of my freckles down.)

I second seeing a derm. Prescription topical possibilities include Triluma and Epiquin Micro.

And great sun protection... I asked my first derm years ago about removing my freckles, and she suggested a chemical peel, but said that it was pointless if I didn't wear SPF 30 daily (at the time I wore only SPF 15). I'm still looking for a great SPF 30, but hats, parasols, and Sunpill work well for me.

lol! Well, if it's any consolation, the French think freckles are sexy. Smile
