Well, this is what happened....the FA would not dissolve completely. I bought my ingredients from Active Formulas (UK skin actives). They assured me that Sea Kelp Ultramarine was an enhanced SKB, so I added that to FA and Vodka and then added anti-oxidant booster (vit E). The booster is orange. I added this mixture to my LAA solution and had to warm it to get it to mix. Will this have negated the LAA?
The result is an amber coloured serum consistency liquid. Can you please tell me if you think it will be ok or should I ditch it and try again. I have already wasted 1/4 vial of FA trying to get it to mix...... Any help would be appreciated, thank you. |

Kassy has many great recipes. Which one did you use?
The ultramarine...I won't go there. I just know that it's far from the original. There are better options.

Let's put it this way....half life of LAA at room temperature...is 15.5 hours...now when it is mixed with FA and E...it is extended, in theory and supposedly in practice. Perhaps it's just fine.
The anti ox booster...you don't know how much Vit E is in there...mystery.. unknown...so we're back to square one. I checked SA and found no information with regards to how much of anything was anywhere in the booster.
How much does a quarter vial weigh?
The backbone of that recipe for 30mls requires, 4.5 grams of LAA, 0.15 grams of FA and 0.3 grams of Vit E.
You used a ton of FA...don't need that much in there. May be just fine though...you get to be your own lab rat for this one.
Get a jewelers scale...and be done with the headaches of guessing. They're cheap and you will be way ahead of the game. And...save yourself the money being wasted on expensive actives. |

Thanks for your reply. I purchased the ultramarine because SKB is not available in UK. I didn't use a 1/4 vial at one go. I tried to dissolve a pinch of FA many times, so had over 8 tries and couldn't get it to dissolve no matter how I tried.....
My recipe was Kassy's recipe
1 tsp L-AA
1 tsp SKB
1 tsp Jojoba Oil
3 tsp H2O
1/4 tsp Ferulic Acid
1/4 tsp Vitamin E Oil
1/4 tsp Vodka or Witch Hazel (vodka is best and purest though.)
I am worried about my final result though. Perhaps I should try a batch without the Ultramarine or anti-oxidant booster. |
