No need to read this if you don't eat bacon.
I buy Kirland brand cooked bacon at Costco. It's $11.99 for a pound of cooked bacon, 48-50 slices. Now, don't go "wow, that's a lot of money", as this is what people have said to me. Yes, $12 for a pound of COOKED BACON. Do the math, how many pounds of uncooked bacon would equal a pound of cooked? No more cleaning bacon grease off of everything in site even though using a splatter guard. Yes, you can bake it in the oven but that's a mess too. You can heat it up in a pan like I did this morning on low, no splattering. There was just enough grease to cook the fried eggs. For other items that use bacon I lay out 1 or 2 paper towels and place a piece of the cooked bacon near the edge and roll it then place another piece on the towel, etc. Then place it in the microwave for 40 seconds. BLT's anyone?
I now only buy bacon for one dish that I make that needs bacon and the grease. I make a mean wok full of fried rice. YUM!!! |
