Hi, I am hoping some of you experts can give me some advice. I am thinking of using several products from GOW to create a simple face cream but have a question about formulation.
I am thinking of using the veggie azule base cream.
And then adding:
-Resveratrol
-Reishi Power (beta glucans)
-Ceramide III (liquid form)
-Cocobutter
I'm trying to make a very rich cream as I have very very dry skin and there really is no such thing as too rich for my face. I'm going with cocobutter rather than shea because I don't like shea on my face and find for me it can actually be either drying or dulling.
So my question is regarding the Reishi Powder. The instructions say to mix it with some water first because it tends to clump in the base cream. But could I instead mix it into the liquid ceramide first and then add that mixture to the cream?
Thanks for any advice you can offer including if you think the recipe looks good or any changes you would make.
This cream would be a last step after my vit C serum, HA acid, and face oils. |

Organic face cream differs from chemically based face cream because it is formulated from ingredients that are safe for the environment and do not cause side effects to the user's health. Several chemicals used in face care products are toxic to the body. Porous skin absorbs the ingredients of face cream (safe or hazardous) making organic face cream an alternative to those with chemical compounds. Skin can both healthy and beautiful without harming environment or the body. Thanks for sharing with us.

You'll have to find out from GOW if the ceramide liquid is water based. If its not then your reishii power wont dissolve in it. |

Oh, that's a good point! Thanks for pointing that out and I'll definitely ask them! |

Also since you have skin that can take a lot of emollients you'll probably find it beneficial at some point to start formulating your own base. I have the same skin type as you. I used to always need to put straight oil on my face and be super careful about drying out my skin. But since I've been making my own cream I've discovered my skin has improved a lot.
Most ready made bases are not emollient enough for my skin. What fels greasy on another persons face soaks right into my skin. |

Wow, it sounds like we have the same skin type. Yep, I also put oil directly onto my face. I have to! So many layers... ugh!
You're probably right about formulating my own base at some point. One step at a time. I'm hoping that whipping in the cocoabutter will help make that base more emollient.
Whenever I see reviews that say a cream is too greasy, I get excited! |

for very dry skin, you may want to try adding hyaluronic acid and pantothenic acid/Calcium Pantothenate, they are both very moisturizing. Also, vitamin C serum may contribute to drying out your skin.... |

I agree that the Vit C may be a tad drying but it's really insignificant compared to the overall dryness of my skin. I use a MAP version which is gentler and my skin loves it so much--immediately becomes glowy and nice--that it's a good trade off for any of the little extra dryness that it may add.
I do already use an HA serum. But I'll definitely look into pantothenic acid. Thanks! |
