Hi all! I thought I'd ask this since a google search hasn't been at all helpful.

I tend to press my skin care products into my face because I don't like tugging/pulling on my skin and also because I find I get greater penetration that way and can use less product.

However, I notice that when I do this, I hear a popping sound! I'll notice it will be more so when I've slept really hard the night before.

I don't think it's the product because it does this no matter what product I use.

Any ideas about what it could be? Is it a bad thing?

Thanks!

I can't imagine what it might be. Have you seen if it is something you only hear internally? It could be air pockets between your teeth and cheek?

Hmmm... how would I tell if it's something I only hear inside my head?

I see what you mean about the air pockets between the cheek and teeth, but I also hear this when I press my eye cream around my eyes and on the temples and forehead. Shock

I just hope I'm not damaging anything! Sad

I have no clue what is causing this, but a question have you pressed on your face without any product at all and heard the same popping sound?

Rice Krispies are to be eaten, not applied to your face! Laughing

This is so weird.
Is the popping in your skin or bones?
If in cheek area, would it be saliva bubbles?

I'm having trouble finding the words to explain this, but I'm guessing it's just the sound of suction when you're performing the pressing action. Make sense? Creams/lotions do that when I press them on too, though I've never consciously thought about it.

Ok, to answer all the questions (couldn't answer last night as I'm a newbie restricted to 5 posts a day):

1. No jaw problems; it happens all over my face, so I don't think it has anything to do with saliva. Never had it happen anywhere else on my body with lotion, only my face.

2. It DOES sound EXACTLY like rice krispies! Laughing

3. The popping is definitely in the skin, not the bones.

4. It doesn't happen on a dry face, but I need to test it to see if it happens on a wet face or only a wet with product face.

5. Suction noises? Do your suction noises sound like rice krispies? Or like popping bubble wrap but not as loud?

And lastly: Does anyone want to experiment??? You can try pressing your product into your damp face and tell me if you hear anything? Razz Very Happy

It's for science!

Thank you everyone!

BelleFlower, it's rather odd what you're experiencing. I pressed product onto my skin all the time and there's absolutely no sound at all unless I patted it very hard and it's like a slapping sound...not popping... hhm rice krispies eh?...LOL makes me hungry now Very Happy

Oh! So the mystery might be solved! Later this evening I am going to try the pressing with just a wet face and no creams and then with the creams.

I can't believe it's suction! It sounds so popping, you know? Laughing

Just an update: The popping sound doesn't happen with just wet skin either. It requires there is product involved, so it may just be that it is indeed suction noises.

That seems so strange though that those popping sounds are actually suction noises! Smile
