How much SPF factor do you think blotting papers remove?
I usually wait till afternoon to blot and follow it with a touch-up of my sunscreen powder because I'm afraid of removing sunscreen (currently LRP Anthelios Fondante SPF 30 with both chemical and mineral filters).
Can anybody shed any light on the matter? |

There's no way of knowing, but I'd venture a guess that it's very little.
There is some thinking that uncoated titanium dioxide and uncoated zinc oxide can destabilise avobenzone. So if that's correct and the minerals in the powder are uncoated (most seem to be), you might be compromising the UVA protection of the LRP. |

The only thing you'll notice, powdered blotting paper to appear on the face, because the layer of powder from clogging pores and perhaps later for more skin problems! |

Thanks, Josh.
Yes, I'm aware of the stability issue, and haven't found an ideal solution yet. I guess right now I'm counting on the UVA protection of the Mexoryls and minerals (and not setting foot outside in the daytime without a wide-brimmed hat and sunglasses). Bioderma Photoderm Max Fluid 50+ is probably better in this respect, with its Tinosorbs for UVA and to help stabilize avobenzone, but I can wear it only occasionally because it makes me verge on irritation. Well, the hunt for the perfect sunscreen continues. |
