So we all know that celebrities have great skin, and it's also true that there's a lot of camera angle, lighting, make up and photoshop involved. But some celebrities genuinely have great skin and/or hair and I just wanted to see if any of you know their secrets!

Can be anything from product line, to bathing in milk! Share the wealth!!

Years ago I read that J-Lo was a devotee of La Mer, but I think her real secret must be just good genes.

Joan Collins' relatively wrinkle-free face, according to herself, was probably due to years of wearing lots of makeup, which served to protect it from the sun.

think Beverly Johnson used milk of magnesia as a primer in her youth/modeling career.

That's all I got for now.

Personally, I think it's lots of laser treatments. I don't think it's just good genes. There are allot of celebrities who start off with very ordinary looking skin and then seem to end up with skin that's as smooth as a china plate.

Yes, they can afford the best products - but products alone don't completely remodel the skin.

I am pretty sure they all get weekly professional facials and treatments/ procedures, A) they can afford all the pampering in the world B) their career depends on looking great.

So true - I'm sure many celebrities have the usual skin issues but they have access to any product or procedure available.
Photoshop can also make any look "perfect", lol!

I agree! If I had access to state of the art products and procedures with no regard to cost, I could probably look pretty amazing too! Laughing

I walked past Drew Barrymore and noticed she had beautiful skin. In the mid-90s I met Faye Dunaway and she had gorgeous skin and wore minimal makeup. She was also taller than I expected. I'd love to know what they use but I think it's basically avoiding the sun and good genes. I also met Joan Collins around the same time and she was wearing a thick layer of pancake makeup so I believe it definitely kept out the sun (and fresh air!).

If you look at earlier photographs of Jennifer Lopez - she really looks quite "ordinary" - not the "goddess" that she is today.

Even reality TV stars that achieve notoriety in five minutes seem to go through a transformation once they become famous. I'm sure that more invasive procedures than just topicals and facials are responsible for it.

I agree with Keliu.

I think it is MAJOR laser resurfacing. What else it could be?

I'm an actor and would LOVE to know the actors' secrets! It's fun to guess, isn't it?

It's fun to guess, and I also agree they are getting "things" done. It isn't just makeup preventing damage Jodie Foster for example really doesn't wear any in her everyday life, I doubt she's alone in that.

A lot of celebrities use Retin-a I've read. They get Botox in their 30s and some are using BHRT in 40s and 50s. Kate Moss is a heavy smoker & uses the Tua Viso.

Many of us here use Retin-A, Botox, BHRT and use the Tua Viso - I doubt that any of us look like Kate Moss!

Personally I have never thought J-lo was that attractive! She has had tons of plastic surgery on her face to make her look less ethnic. As far as skin I tend to agree with other posters that if you have a ton of money and access to best dermatologists and plastic surgeons wihout worrying about cost then how can you not look good! It is very difficult to compare movie stars to us. We all would look amazing if we could afford half the treatments that these people have had!

I think is is all about maintenance. That would include regular visits to dermatologists.

I've met a few celebrities and they do have nice skin, but I've also met non-celebrities and they look just as good. But these people are all about maintenance. My mother-in-law is like that also. Her skin is so poreless, so flawless, it is totally unbelievable! She always dress well and her home is always in proper style and maintained well. I think it reflects on everything when it comes to how you care for yourself.

I am a fan of Cellcosmet and I read that Jennifer Aniston uses that line. Some use Dr. Colbat skin care line, then there is Kate Somerville, ProActive and plenty more. We have access to that also, but they go a step further and have regular treatments at their dermatologist when they do have a skin issues. We can buy devices, but the treatment is not as intense, unless we use it frequently.

I can't wait to read gretchen attachments to her post.

That TuaViso article with Kate Moss's photo -- her makeup is horrible. Smeary liner, spider mascara, lousy eyebrows. She only looks good when professionals get hold of her.
