Hi there

I am about to use glycolic acid 30% strength and have a question. The instructions say not to use under the eyes. Does this mean you can't use glycolic acid directly under the eye, the lower half of the eye lid? Is it ok to use it say a 1cm or 2cm away from the eye near the upper cheek?

I seriously wouldn't apply to any eye area that hasn't got bone under it. I really don't think you need to use such a strong acid on such delicate skin!

I use a 10% glycolic acid and I don't go near the eye area, directly under it or the orbital part of it (all around the eye). Where did you find the 30%? I would be interested in trying it. I really like the 10% and have noticed an improvement in my skin.

That's a high percentage. I wouldn't use 10% around any of my eye area, let alone 30%, use with care if you haven't used it before.

I bought it off ebay, 10%, 30% and 50% concentrations are freely available. It does say not to use under the eye in the instructions but I just wondered what it meant by that exactly.

Platinum Skincare sells all different strength glycolic and bi-phasic peels. You can get 10% of your order until 2/20 by entering the coupon code SAVVAL.

Their peels are low ph and quite strong. They have a lot of detailed information and instructions about them on their website.

never put acids close to the eye area. Go outside the orbicularis- think of applying along the rim of Jackie O sunglasses to be safe.

Don't do it.
I will never use anything other than Diana Yvonne peel products. The solution is much safer, and Lactic is tons better that Glycolic.

You really don't know what type of glycolic they are using. I emailed an ebayer who was selling glycolics, and she said she hired a chemist a few years ago to start her business and couldn't answer any basic questions on how to lower the ph of her products using the buffer solution she was selling.

Cheap is not always safe. Now I have chemical burns from a 30% solution on my nose, and the neutralizer never worked. It makes me wonder what was really in the pink bottle from Ebay. Hopefully not floor cleaner!

Back to the discussion thread - don't use it around your eyes. I'd only use a higher ph product of a 4.0ph in that region. There are some glycolic acid pads around that are not going to be a potent as the straight liquid solution. If you burn your eye tissue, I can't really imagine the pain and frustration and depression that will result.

I just took a valium after looking at my chemical experience. Great stuff!

I am quite surprise that you can buy 30% and 50% concentration. Shock
I heard the max. con that they can sell for commercial market is 14 - 15% only. Question
The height is for medical and have to use under the doctor. Neutral

Anyhow, I don't think that you will use 30% and/or 50% by yourself. It is very risk and dangerus. 10% con is not suitable for eye lid also.
Confused

Have you tried 10% GA? What has it done for you?
Even 10% GA gives rashes sometimes. 30% sounds bit too scary!!

hi gu
Like I said earlier, I have been using products with 10% GA but they give me rashes sometimes. Are there any products that can soothe my skin after I use GA? I hear vitamin B 5 is quite soothing?
Thanks in advance

we use a 40 % glycolic peel weekly (6 weeks on, 4 weeks off) and leave it 3 mins only...
i apply it within 1cm of the lower lashes, to get anyfine lines, and i do it very carefully with a Q-tip....if i have any hot spots, i neutralize them straight away...

my skin looks MUCH better now, and when i smile, i no longer get the extra crinkles under my eyes, just the normal ones... if you do it carefully, its fine....
