Hello!
I need guidance as I attempt to improve the appearance of the spider veins on my legs. I just purchased an IPL(Intense Pulsed Light)machine to try, but I have never had any exposure to using this. I have never had an IPL treatment, either...
So, I am hoping that some knowledgeable person will be able to offer their advice as to the best way for me to go about this. I also welcome any opinions regarding the treatment of spider veins.
Please keep in mind that this IPL machine was not inexpensive. I have several weeks to return it. If this is a waste of my time and money, I would hope that someone would tell me that, too!!!
Thanks so very much for your help!!!

I don't believe IPL is effective for leg veins.
I would really do alot of reading before using my face also. |

Hi GirlieGirl!
Do not worry...I am very conservative when it comes to my DIY projects. Also, I do have a medical background.
I am using this IPL machine, which technically is an SPL, only on my legs for now. If nothing else, it should function for epilation. It is a professional salon model, much more powerful than a home-use machine, but it certainly is not medical grade.
I know that the gold standard for spider vein treatment is sclerotherapy, but not in all cases. In fact, there is often a combination approach from what I understand. Many of my spider veins are very fine and matted...almost diffuse. These would not be easy to inject. For this reason, I thought that I would just try IPL treatment.
So far, I have been able to operate my machine, the SPL600 by Biotechnique Avance, quite easily. I have not had any problems with burning or swelling. The procedure has been relatively painless. Actually, I wonder if anything is happening! I imagine that I need to be patient. If anything positive happens, like the tightening of my skin or the diminishing of my spider veins, it will have been worth it to me!
Be Well,
