I am thinking of going back to soft contacts. I had tried them several years ago but could never tell when the lenses were inside out. The different cup shapes when it sat on my finger looked exactly the same to me. Have they improved this feature or added a dot to the outside to make life easier?
Otherwise, I think the only solution would be to buy a contact lens inserter to grab the lens correctly in the first place. |

That inside-out thing use to be a problem for me too. Now I use Focus Dailies. Because you only use them for one day, they're super thin and it doesn't matter if they're inside out. (Both sides are the same.) |

I've worn contacts for over 30 years. When I was in the optometrist's office recently for my yearly exam, I was surprised when I overheard the procedure for checking whether the lens was inside out. They taught a teenager (and his mother) to look at the edge of the lens and that you could "see" something that told you the difference. Then the teacher left the room and they proceeded to get frustrated.
So I said....."Psssst. Don't tell the doc, but I'll show you the way I was taught in the olden days." You put the contact on your finger and lightly squeeze the sides with two fingers from your other hand. If it curls inward you are fine. If it spreads out (onto your fingers) it is inside out. The teen and mom thanked me profusely and got the lenses in with no problem.
The Focus dailies sound like a great option too, but I'm not sure what method you were taught for checking when you tried them a few years ago. I thought I'd mention this as well. |

I read years ago that the daily contacts are no different than the ones you take out and clean every night so you can save a lot of money by cleaning the dailies and reusing. The only reason I'd choose dailies is for convenience but it's good to know their life can be extended when times get tough financially. |

I wore soft contacts for about 6 years. I wear Accuve, that's what I always have worn. There is a number on them if it's inside out you'll be able to tell because the number will be upside down. |

I have worn soft contact lenses for years and I still have trouble telling if they'e inside out sometimes. At this point, I'd LOVE to have Lasik surgery even if I still have to use reading glasses. Contacts/glasses can really slow down your life! |

If you put wear it inside, you should be able to tell because it doesn't feel very comfortable that way. It helps to blink rapidly too cause if it's inside out, it won't stay on the eye that way |

Very true! You'll know immediately if you've gotten them in inside out! |

I had lasik Surgery after years of wearing glasses and daily disposable contact lens. For me, I had sharper vision before I had the lasik done! |

Yes, I've seen folks go back to glasses after lasik. I think they have trouble in dimmer light. Also, some get terrible dry eye.
But that's not the topic! My lenses usually seem to open up more on my finger if they're inside out. (Trouble is when they are saturated with solution it's hard to tell the difference between the two looks (inside out and not inside out).)
I'll have to try the squeeze method as described above, it sounds intriguing. Anyone else try it successfully?
What they should do is put a letter inside all lenses (I read above some have a number) that looks reversed when the lens is inside out. One brand I used had a letter M for what ever reason. I thought that was awfully useless! at least they should have put a minuscule "m". |

I've never had an issue, they look bell shaped instead of round when they are inside out. There is also a tiny logo in case I need more clues. |

I was quoted around $1 per pair of disposables from the two opticians I spoke to.
Also they refused to just sell me a month supply- I only use them for swimming or some outdoor things (not w getting my head in the water though...)
Also I think the daily disposables they use a lot of plastic packaging and i do not like that too much.
I ended up getting Daylens that you can order online.
A month is $8.99 delivered- just checked on their website.
https://www.daysoftcontactlenses.com/CA/CountryHomepage.aspx
I also like how they are made in the UK and not in China, like some other lenses apparently.
I guess the Chinese made lenses are fine, but I like the Daylens daily lenses.
Their customer service is good too, I had a small issue with 2 lenses in one package and they sent me a new months supply- and this was 6 months after I had bought them (I do not use them every week,so they usually last me at least 6+ months for a box).
Daylens used to have a free sample offer quite a few years ago when they started out.
But you can always try emailing them or else I know the orders include 1 or 2 extra pairs to try out.
Now I am kind of tempted to get Daylens instead of my Biomedics lenses, it would be around 1/2 the price.....
I am paying around $25 for a box of 6 lenses- so $50 every 3 months.
I still like my colored contacts though...those are around $35 per box...$70 for 3 months |

Good to know. You'd think other lens companies would catch on to such a simple concept. |

I wear Accuve 2 contact lenses. I've been wearing them for about 6 years. No problems at all. I usually buy enough for 2 years after I get a check up from the optomistrist. |

I've worn contacts since I was 13, you will love them. OK not all the time but mostly you will be very happy.
About a year ago I started using this lens solution Bio True that is supposedly like your real tears, it's pretty good:

I've heard that too but on this contact lens forum I like an eye doc said that this depends and it's not true with all of them. He said you could really damage your eyes if you do this with the wrong dailies.
If anyone has trouble removing their contacts I found these awesome little removers on Amazon. Sometimes my contacts want to stick and not come out at the end of the day and these things take them out without a problem. |

I think my aunt has that and wears contacts. I'm pretty sure you can at least try them. I think she wears gas permeable contacts? |

hi,
is it advisable to wear contact lens when you have astigmatism rather than a traditional eye wear.? |
It's supposed to be better because it flattens out the cornea a bit. I've read about a special kind of contact that you wear at night that molds your cornea but that might only be for certain disease conditions.
When I used to wear hard contacts and gas permeable, those little suction lens removers were a godsend. I was forever scraping my eye. |

I've been wearing contacts for 45 yrs and still remember the day I first got them...and what it felt like to see myself without glasses 12 feet from a mirror. SOOOOO exciting! I'm posting on this thread because I have had to wear my glasses more and more over the years, because of my dry eyes...to the point that I was wearing my glasses 70% of the time, and contacts 30% (and paying for it with red, irritated eyes.) So the great news is, I just started wearing ACUVUE OASYS and they are FABULOUS I can wear contacts again all day, everyday!! No red eyes, no dryness. I highly recommend them to anyone who has difficulty tolerating soft contacts because of eye dryness. |

When I first got soft contacts at 18 I was so thrilled because I was getting green tinted ones. They were the ones that would work with lighter eyes and turned my hazel eyes to a dark emerald green. I have really thick black eyelashes and the green was really striking yet natural. I started getting all these compliments on my beautiful green eyes.
Fast forward 3 weeks and I had given them up. It just wasn't worth it, I hated having dry eyes after 3 hours or so of wear. I was back to my normal routine of prescription sunglasses outside, my regular glasses at night driving, and bumping into things and squinting indoors.
Now I wear the Acuvue trueye dailies and it's like wearing nothing. I'd get lasik but I'm afraid of getting the dry eye syndrome that some people end up with after having it done. |

My doctor mentioned that sometimes soft contact lens wearers with dry eye have problems when their eyes suck the moisture out of the lens, which then makes the lens stiffer and uncomfortable. |

Innerscent I had astigmatism in both eyes and wore soft lens for about 10 years. I never had a problem with them.
I decided to get Lasik surgery about 14 yrs ago - one of the best decisions I ever made. I have been able to see perfectly since the day I had it done. It was amazing to take a shower and actually be able to see! I can see just as good at night as during the day. Highly recommend it if anyone is thinking about getting it done. |

i would suggest talking to your eye doctor.
i have never had any issues with dry eyes and i have been wearing contacts for 10 years
but my problem was that i would red these red lines
i suspect it was becuase of lack of oxygen to my eyes
i ended up getting an eye infection from my parents and i got it the worst even had to ER becuase they are not contact wearers
my optomatrist recommended contacts that are really good for my eyes and after i went back for a check up he said they were really healhty and like i don't wear contacts. so my current contacts are not depriving my eyes of oxygen which I am very happy about |
