I have been given the opportunity to take part in the medical trail for a new weight loss drug. It is a form of the naturally occuring Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) which leads to better functioning of your insulin and makes you feel fuller longer.
I went though the selection process and was told I was a perfect candidate except that I would need to be on birth control pills to take part in the trial which would last a year. I am not planning on getting pregnant but I have avoided the pill because I suffer from classic migraine with aura and am worried about the increased stroke risk.
However with my weight edging upwards this is already having a negative impact on my migraine frequency and severity andof course being over weight can also lead to stroke so I am not sure if I should just try the pill for the period of the trail? I am going to make an appointment to discuss it with my GP but I wondered if anyone here had heard of this GLP-1 and if anyone had any advice about taking the pill with migraine? |

I don't know about the pill, but I can share how I got rid of my migraine.
feverfew + ginkgo biloba
I read about this combination in Earl Mindell's Vitamin Bible and it works for me, so far my migraine is gone. |

I would never be a human guinea pig. Too many horror stories. I've always felt that drug companies should use prisoners, preferably those with life sentences or on death row. It would actually be a better way to control all the different environmental variables and, if they die, they die!
Give them a DVD player and p0rnography for their efforts, with the bulk of the money used to reimburse each state's taxpayers. Win-win! |

Lol, actually I have gone right off the idea of doing this! I was kind of swept up with the idea of it and had looked in the the benefits of the glp-1 which include slowing down aging by stoping glycation but then I looked at some of the side effects and it's not good risk of thyroid cancer, pancreatitis and most common on going stomach problems.
I'm in the UK so you don't get paid and I would like to help but these risks coupled with the added risk of having to be in the pill for me rules me out of this particular medical trial I think! |

You don't get paid? Why on earth would anyone want to help Big Pharma? It's not like they are hurting for money. |
