Hi All
I was going past posts on here, and recall a poster mentioning to make sure to order a ddermaroller that is cross thatched.
What does this mean, if anyone here knows???
Thanks so much

Hi Stork,
Here are a few posts about the cross-linked needle pattern that might be helpful along with their links so that you can read around the posts for context and other related info:

I thought you posted something about the size of the needle (diameter) being important vs the amount of needles, or vice versa. I will try to search around and see if I can find what I am looking for! |
Most rollers have about the same number of needles...196-200.
However, the thickness of the needles often varies...the lower-end knockoffs seem to have the thinnest needles. In this instance, thinner is not better, but you cannot go too thick either. The Dr Roller needles are Max.0.3mm (at the base), Min.0.03mm (at the pointy end)
The needle pattern is fairly important...cross-linked needles create more tension on the skin, and allow needles to penetrate more deeply. If the needles are lined up in straight rows like this :::::: then they are NOT cross-linked. Cross-linked needles are staggered, like bricks are laid.

More holes are better for better for release of the blood and various enzymes that kickstart the wound healing cascade...that applies regardless of the issue you are trying to correct.
The Dr. Roller model is going to penetrate deeper than other rollers due to the cross-linked needle pattern. I would personally stick to the 1.5mm (6 times max for sharpness), and then take a break for a couple of months. You may not need a 2.0mm roller after that.

There's also this about rolling in the star pattern too which you might find helpful:

question: how many strokes of rolling should I do?
How many times in EACH direction should I roll?
I remember reading it somewhere, 20 times up, 20 times down, 20 times left, 20 times right, 20 times in one diagonal direction, and 20 times in another diagonal direction.
Does it seem right? |
I believe it should be 5 strokes in a star pattern over a small area of skin. |
I do 5 up and 5 down in each of the 4 directions (vertical, horizontal, left diagonal, right diagonal)...one small area at a time as Keliu mentioned.
