Hi there! I'm new to EDS, and was wondering if anyone knew about under eye hollows and circles? Im 19 now, and I know that may be a young age to start thinking about stuff like this, but it bugs me so much! People have told me that I look older than I really am, and it just makes me feel uncomfortable. The economy is not to good where I am, so I'm kind of low on funds. Does anyone have any tips, or products to recommend? It's GREATLY appreciated! Very Happy

I've always had them, some times its just heredity. Topicals don't help these issues so don't waste your money on anything.

ah man. i wish i had something awesome to rec but the only thing that made a difference for me was filler. i've had my hollows since i was a child too and it really is expensive to keep up but i find i need less each time and i've got a guy who prorates so i don't have to buy a full syringe. maybe consider looking for someone who offers that if you consider filler down the line.
before going the resty route, i just used a damned good concealer and set with laura mercier's secret brightening powder. but honestly, as you know, all you get is still a concealer-colored hole.

What is your lifestyle like - no smoking/ alcohol/ drugs, do you sleep well, eat a balanced wholefood diet, a healthy weight, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly? Not saying these are a miracle cure as genetics plays it's part, but they really can help by balancing hormones, improving flow in the cardiovascular and lymphatic systems.

What are eye hollows??? Are they just deep set eyes? If it is, than I think use of a foundation to take the shadows away could really improve things.

No, its technically called tear through deformity which makes it sound worse then it really is. This is definition I found for it: "Tear Trough Deformity is the result of the skin and muscle of the lower eyelid that are tethered down inside the inferior rim to the periorbita." It can also be caused by loss of fat.

Fillers help plump up the area by filling in the hollows. Hollows are really impossible to cover up with concealers etc because by their nature they create shadows.

No smoking, drinking, drugs, or even prescription drugs. I go to the gym every other day, and I always try to get 10 hours of sleep a night. I've been eating healthy foods and drinking lots of water as well.

My hollows start from about the lower lash lown down to the lower edge of the eye socket. I've been thinking of buying a vitamin c serum, has anyone tried it with good results?

Vitamin C serum is good antioxidant to use but it wont help your hollows.

Vit C helps to plump up my eye area. I use CE Ferulic but the serum that makes it a 'good eye day' Laughing is the 5% La Roche Posay one! I apply under my eyes and it really perks them up.

I have this same problem (and have had it for a while). I went through a time period where I seriously considered a procedure done by Dr Seckel in Boston where he releases the skin that is tethered to the orbital bone and inserts a very small fat graft (not injection) to the area. It sounds like the best surgery-related approach to the problem, but I am currently chickening out on having it done... anyone else look into this ever?

You can have fat grafted to the area with out the release. I wonder how he grafts the fat without injecting it.

Okay, let's see if I can get this right- The La Roche Posay Active C is the one to get.
Also, I know it is an antioxident, but do vitamin c serums help for anything else that would effect the eye area? Such as plumping it up, or thicker skin? Just wondering.. Smile
Thanks for all the recommendations, it really helps me out and is making me feel very welcome to EDS(:

Treatment would really depend on how hollow the eye area is as they can occur at any age even at a younger age. Eye hollows only affect how old someone looks to a certain extent. I too have this dilemma but am planning on waiting a few more years before looking into fillers which are supposed to have very positive results for this area.
