I have been using turmeric as a facial mask and its working really well, very happy with it
also been using it internally, taking 1 teaspoon per day. my skin looks different, feels much softer, and acne breakouts at an all time low, and healing very quickly.
Just wanted to share
I know turmeric is very good for liver and blood cleansing
and its sooo cheap to get. check to make sure its pure though |

I bought some organic turmeric a little while ago and used it once as a mask (mixed with yogurt). I havent used it enough to notice anything yet. How are you taking it internally? Are you cooking with it or just taking a spoonful? |

damn you eds, i've been reading about tumeric on here for so long that I finally went ahead and did a tumeric & yogurt mask.
Of course I dumped too much tumeric in so that it was a pretty bright shade of yellow, which I know will stain my face, but I went ahead anyway.
In the meantime, snacking on the leftovers was kind of yummy. Might make a practice of eating tumeric & yogurt... I think it needs a little something though since its mostly the smell that's nice, not necessarily the taste.
About to wash off.. will let you know! |

Wow, WHAT an ordeal. I rinsed first, and looked pretty oily (which it normally seems like after yogurt masks) & yellow. I washed my hands with soap and dried them. My towel is now stained.
So I decided to use my ocm oil (which I'd already done once this morning). I don't usually use cleansers of any sort and feel like ocm oil is gentler. HOLY MOLEY my white tissue was bright yellow afterwards.
Did OCM again, and again, bright yellow!
Did it a third time and my tissue came out pale yellow.
Then I gently used my microfibre (now stained).
And I need to clean my now-yellow sink.
Verdict: My skin feels nice and nourished and soft - I mean, really lovely, and I've discovered that I LOVE the smell of tumeric.
Is it worth the hassle? You know, I think it is! I usually don't like yogurt masks because of the smell, but this smelled really good. And I'll make sure to use much less tumeric next time so cleanup should be way easier. I mean, my face truly feels divine.
I really like the idea of ingesting it for the liver-cleansing properties (which should benefit the whites of my eyes, and skin) so I'll be looking into recipes, or just eating it with yogurt!
Its worth noting that I have yellow/orange undertones in my brown complexion so the yellow will be less of a problem for me than others. I'm sure lesser amounts will be waaaay easier to clean off as well.
Cheers! |

Its really funny that you mention this, because I've been thinking about it for a while now...
Turmeric is a huge anti-inflammatory and cleans the liver and spleen and moves the blood. Two things that I need immensely.
So, how much are you supposed to use, internally and/or externally? |

I buy organic turmeric by the pound & like to sprinkle it on eggs & into tuna salad. After pouring my daily green smoothie, I leave about 3/4 cup smoothie in the Vitamix, then add 1/2 teaspoon turmeric & drink that separately, simply because I'm not crazy about the taste & don't want that taste in my entire huge smoothie. One finger is arthritic and there is no pain or inflammation as long as I take the turmeric. If I skip a couple of days the pain in that finger awakens me. Also there are claims that turmeric may prevent dementia. |

How much turmeric do you use on your face at a time? I'd like to try, but I'd hate to show up to work with a yellow face tomorrow |

Almost everyday I drink a yogurt drink that is common all over the middle east. Its called ayran. I make it my whisking water and salt into yogurt (with a fork). I like almost equal amounts of yogurt and water, some people like more water... Some people flavor it with mint or garlic. Its really nice and really refreshing.
Anyways, today I added 1/2 tsp of turmeric with just salt. It was really nice actually. I never would have thought of it, and if I tell anyone, they'll think I'm crazy, but I'm gonna keep doing this! |

the turmeric is still working absolutley amazing for me.
My breakouts are almost non existent.
and i was getting severe breakouts. severe, to the point of not wanting to go o9ut socially
i find that taking it internally, (a tsp a day in warm water) works better than just topical
very cleansing to the liver |

being doing quite a bit of research on turmeric
and adding a dash of black pepper to it, when taking internally, works much better. the body has a more difficult time at absorbing turmeric, but the black pepper helps |

Stork is right - adding black pepper helps assimilate the turmeric. Also, take it with a little fat (such as coconut oil, coconut milk, regular milk, etc.).
As for the facials, I've heard (haven't tried it yet) that mixing honey with turmeric won't stain your face. It was mentioned on the Earth Clinic Web site. I think the amount used was 2:1 (twice the amount of honey to turmeric). |

I'm telling you... try the yogurt drink aka ayran aka lassi (I think India calls it). Its really nice, regular yogurt has the fat, and the probiotics are another plus! |

Turmeric is still working amazingly well
kind of cut down on the facials as the yellow is really not easy to get out of skin. stained my bed sheets with it.
Using it orally instead. |

This topic brings memories.
I did a turmeric face mask once. Only no one told me I had to wash it off really well. I simply rinsed it off. It didn't help that I left home before light and used public transportation. By the time I stopped at 7-11 to get some coffee, the sun was out. The guy there who knew me as I was a regular asked what I had on my face. Surprised that it had worked so well for him to notice a change, I replied, "Nothing!" --which was true as I hadn't applied anything after rinsing off the turmeric. He said I looked bright. Oooh I beamed so widely you coulda seen my molars. Who knew one treatment could make me glow so!
As I walked to the bus stop the newspaper guy whom I always chatted with every morning told me I was glowing. I grinned even wider! It was winter time so I had on a white woolly cap and matching scarf. When I got to work, I went to the bathroom to admire myself and see what the remarkable turmeric difference that had everyone's attention was...Coz I hadn't thought it was that outstanding before I left home, but clearly I had missed something.
OMG, the horror! I looked like an Oompa Loompa character. I was glowing alright! Glowing like a blinking yellow/orange light bulb. And some of the yellowish dye was on the edge of my cap as well. I had walked through town looking like a high carotene vegetable. So much for my "Nothing" response, when clearly the stained part of my cap--if they could see--it wasn't yellow by magic; and of course w/o my telling the whole story, they couldn't know that I really had washed it off so I really believed I had nothing on my face LOL. Why the ground didn't just swallow me then, I dunno!
Good thing I got to work earlier than everyone so I was able to wash it off before those who really know me got to see me like that. |

OMGOSH! I almost fell out of my chair reading your post, Nonie!
I do add turmeric to my green smoothie, which does contain lots of coconut oil. When a few drops hit my sink, I have to scrub to get the stains out so applying turmeric topically on my casper toned skin scares the heck out of me...and probably everyone else!
Thanks for a wonderful read! |

Hi,I take tumeric supplements for it's anti-inflammatory properties. (I have rheumy arthritis.) I might try opening a capsule and putting it on my forehead followed by a rinse with milk to prevent the yellow stain. I really do not want the "Nonie Glow". |
