I remember when I was in college using differin and the dermatologist recommending Cerave for irritation. Well, it irritated my skin back then but I thought that I would try it again (using Renova now). I figured that since I am not using anything that would disrupt my "barrier" I would be ok. Anyway, my skin is especially dry due to the renova, AALS and heat being used in the house. I thought I would plop on some Cerave, well it still stings but for a little while but stops. Any suggestions on a different lotion? Wonder what is causing the irritation? Thanks so much, you guys have been a great help! |

You must have something unique about your skin..because CeraVe is very mild and sold at dermatologists offices. Renova, one would think, would irritate your skin way more than CeraVe. You must have an allergic reaction to something in the CeraVe cream maybe?
For me, I find CeraVe an incredible moisture sealing and mild product that makes my skin look way younger. It is shame you are having trouble with it. |

The dehydration alone can breach the protective acid mantle/ stratus. Plus some Cerave products contain parabens which are known to a problem for some sensitive types. Perhaps try a plain oil such as olive squalane, a traditional cold cream or Weleda sweet almond oil moisturiser. |

I would think that something in the cream disagress with your skin, you might like to read the ingredient list and see if you have used the ingredients in other things before and if you had that same reaction. |

My derm just recommended CeraVe cleanser and cream for rosacea. Any more reviews? Is it greasy? My skin is really sensitive. I am tired of trying all the Derms recommendations since I have a cupboard full of stuff like Cetaphil, etc. |

I don't find the CeraVe cream greasy at all. I love the cream in the tub. (Not thrilled with the PM Moisturizer, though.) The CeraVe cleanser (at least the hydrating one) is very mild and takes a little bit to get used to, as it feels, at the beginning, like it is not cleaning the face all the way. I think it is a good solid cleanser, but to me the cream is the star product of the line. |

I never found CeraVe lotion to sting or feel greasy. In fact, it soaks in very good.
But I find that CeraVe does not work very well on extremely dry skin and I have to use shea butter instead. |

I have used CeraVe in the past and thought the slight stinging/redness was normal as I get it too. But it goes away and doesn't cause irritation. I thought it was the Niacinamide ingredient as Niacin taken internally causes what they call "niacin flush" in some people. |

bren, did you use the Cerave PM? That is the one that has niacin in it. I also cannot use the PM version, but the cream in the tub is a very plain moisturizer. |

I used the AM one with the SPF in the thin push top bottle. I only used it a couple times and didn't like that feeling when going on even though it went away after a bit. |

I know what I have posted earlier, but I am taking it back. I stopped using CeraVe for awhile and went back to it recently. I agree with the stinging. I have scratch marks from my cat and CeraVe sort of burns me. It is some sort of reaction.
It can't be good. |
