Has anyone had any luck with all the new moisturizers that are supposed to discourage hair growth? I used Jergen's for a little while and didn't really notice any difference, either because I didn't use it enough or because it doesn't actually work. Any ideas, guys? |

Are you referring to a facial or body lotion? I've tried the Jergens too, but my problem is that I never remember to put it on! Duuuuuuuuuuuuh! And when I have to shave my legs more often during the summer, I don't particularly like the feel of a heavy lotion. I'm going to try the new Sothys Post-Depilatory Spray next, I think. |

I tried something called HairNoMore. Name sounded pretty good
It had a cream to remove hair and then a lotion or a spray which was supposed to slow down the growth. Problem is that you had to use it twice a day I think. It did absolutely nothing for me plus it didn't have the best of smells Mind you the reason it didn't work could be just because I kept forgetting to use it sometimes... In the end it was too much trouble, I threw it out and decided to stick with waxing |

I saw this post and was interested.. I tried a spray called kalo which was supposed to do same (slow down regrowth). The word hopeless springs to mind. It smelled brutal like many similar products. I think the people who produce these merely latch on to peoples dream of not having to constantly remove hair and thus everyone gives them a try!
I threw away the Kalo after 8 sessions (and absolutely no difference with the hairs) Booked in for laser treatment shortly after - best money I ever spent. 4 sessions later, the area is virtually hairless |

I used the Jergens as well and it definitely worked for me. I'm Asian (Chinese) though and tend towards the hairless side anyway. I used the Jergens in the bikini area after getting "strip-mined" and also on my lower legs after I shave. No question, the hair re-growth is much slower and when it comes in, only one or two at a time grow in, not all over and much finer. The hair on my legs is not particularly coarse normally though. |

Hi all,
I also tried one of these hair minimising sprays (it was in a azure blue bottle-can't remember the name, purchased from a salon), applied twice a day as per directions, and whala, no difference whatsoever!
I clinged to the hope that maybe I didn't use enough or forgot a appplication, and persisted, but still nothing. Apparently the theory behind it was something like the hair folicle enviroment is acidic, spray is absorbed and changes the enviroment to basic, which does not enable the hair to recieve cell nutrients for healthy growth, so it's meant to kind of starve it. The only thing that was starving was my wallet, coz I spend money on worthless products!
Save your cash ladies, & if it's a real problem and bothers you, (or your lazy like me), spend it on laser which gives you lasting results quickly. |

By the way, I forgot to add: I was pretty religious about using the Jergens on the relevant areas every day after I shower (I didn't use anywhere else, because I figured, it's a special-use kind of lotion and relatively expensive for OTC drugstore lotion, so why waste it in areas where I don't have hair?) I found that if I got lazy and skipped days, it made a difference and hair grew back faster and coarser. So in response to patstar's original question (2 years ago!), continued (and continual) use was the answer for me. But once a day was enough. |
