I just wanted to thank you ladies (or shake my finger at you) for this forum! I started Retin-A last week and it is all your fault!
If it wasn't for your great advice, I would have used too much of the stuff and used it every day until my skin was a red, itchy and peeling mess. Now I am being smart and using it every other day. I even read the instructions in the box!
So far, I am very happy. I also added 2% Hydroquinone and it is super drying so I can't say if I love that stuff yet. |

hahaha! I love it I'm so glad that you're using the Retin-a per the instructions and CONSERVATIVELY as almost everyone on EDS says to
As I just posted in another thread, almost always whenever I have read of a disastrous outcome from Retin-a it is from over-zealous use but people always want to blame the product rather than themselves lol |

| Yes, I am trying it again as well. It is tempting NOT to overuse. I am starting slowly using it every 3rd night, and just a pea size and will work my way up. I really do want it to work, I have some fine lines, texture and pore issues that just started to crop up and the derm says it is the best thing for me. |

Well, first of all, when you start a new regimen, your skin has to adjust to the cream (retin-A) first, takes a couple of weeks. Once your skin adjusted, your redness and dryness will disappear. When you put Retin-A on your skin, make sure that you use pea-size only (very little) and you can even combine with your favorite moisturizer to dilute the retin-A further if you are very concern. Don't forget retin-a should be applied at night only, never during the day. A good sunscreen will further improve your results....

I've just started using Steive-A (o.025%) which is our equvalent of Retin-A in Aus. I've also started very slowly only every 3 nights and I use moisturiser about 2 hours later since I go to bed late. Ive had a little dryness but not too bad. I agree its so tempting to want to apply more and more often in the beginning. So glad I didnt.
The advice on this forum has been so fantastic and I think Ive had better advice here, about how to use it, than at my drs....so add me to the Retin-A peer pressure group LOL |

Yes it is really tempting to overuse Retin-A and I'm so glad you didnt!
It's the overuse and the horrid side effects of that overuse that end up all over the internet telling people how bad it is lol
I got Stieva-a a few years ago too being told that Retin-A was no longer available and then a year later it WAS available here again - then I was told by one of my pharmacist friends that both were withdrawn here in Oz and replaced with Retrieve-A - but when I asked me doc he said he heard nothing of all of that and then when he looked up tretinoin availability for me he found both Retin-A and Stieva-a are available here - so confusing! lol |

Glamcat thats so weird. Wish they would all make up their mind.My dr said no to retin-a availabilty...go figure alright??
As for my application I'm a tummy sleeper so I feel that LCD TV light is better than it being wiped off on my pillow.....sorry Im not planning on changing my sleep style LOL
Now Im confused again. Is there any proof/studies in regards to LCD TV light and breakdown of retin a?? Maybe I could apply alittle later at night, say an hour before bed? |

I'm a side and tummy sleeper too - I so wish I could change that to being a back-sleeper because when I wake up I have pillow creases in my face! lol I do use a satin pillowcase and a memory foam pillow, not that I think it makes any difference at all
I apply my skincare at least 1 hour before going to bed too for this reason - I think it's better to get the products on than not at all - despite what the research says about the effects of light, etc just my thoughts though... |
