Hi, i'm a 20 year old male and i'm looking for something to firm and improve the texture of the skin on my face. i finished a course of roaccutane about 6 - 9 months ago to get rid of my acne, and my skin isnt very nice. when im looking at it in a well lit room the colour in parts seems a bit different and my skin looks a bit loose and soft - its hard to explain, Confused

any recommendations would be great, i have had a look at some products but i don't really know anything about skin care. Thanks

zug,
If i were you I would immediately start using a Vitamin C serum and a good moisturizer. There are dozens of threads on this discussion group that talks about the different vitamin c serums. It will help to reverse damage already done & even out your skin tone. It also encourages collagen & elastin production to firm up sagging areas.
Keep the questions coming...we love to talk about skin care! It's what we do! Laughing

Thanks for the help Very Happy

serums come before your moisturizers..

cleanse, tone, serum, moisturizer, sunblock during the day.

cleanse, tone, serum, anti-wrinkle/nightcream if you use one.

Apart from vitamin C I think it's also important to use some AHAs to help resurface your skin a bit and make it smoother. Jan Marini Bioglycolic Bioclear Lotion might be a gooc choice for you. Check out the description and see if it sounds like something that your skin may need.

In terms of vitamin C I would start low on the beginning - I'd say 10%. I have not tried the EmerginC serums but just looking at the packaging (clear bottle) I would go with Skinceuticals instead (amber bottle that protects the vit C from exposure to light thus helping it stay "useful" for longer).

Zug - those are good choices I think. I hope you'll keep us updated with how is working for you.

On the beginning I would suggest that you separate the vit C and the Bioglycolic. Use the vit C serum in the morning only and use the Bioglycolic at night. Using both together might be too much for your skin on the beginning.

I would also echo the suggest for the vit C. Cellex-C also makes a moisturizer in their Betaplex line has AHA in it and is really nice. It is called Betaplex New Complextion Cream...

Good Luck

Your best bet is to always read your ingredients. It's quite safe to say that if you only recognize five words in the list, the product is not worth your time. I know this because i have my own skincare line. I was working in skincare store and i began researching ingredients. I couldn't believe the crap that is put in skincare. So i started my own line and use my own products. If you are interested in quality skincare i can help you out.
