Hello, my girlfriend suffers from really bad eczma and she was prescribed some steroid cream by her doctor to use, it works really well and gets rid of the eczma however it has been known to thin skin, I was wondering if anyone knew of any products which have been proven to thicken skin, thank you very much. |

Hello! I am no expert, but I believe massage and gentle dry brushing of the skin can thicken skin. Also, has your girlfriend tried to eliminate inflammatory foods from her diet-- like milk/dairy and meat? I know someone personally who cured her skin condition this way (she also upped her leafy green vegetable intake). From what I have heard, long term steroid use is harmful to the body and more so than just thinning skin. |

Corticosteroid creams only thin skin with chronic use: is your girlfriend needing to use the prescribed topicals daily over the long term or can she get away with short courses? I would suggest she speaks with her dermatologist, family doctor or a pharmacist on how to prevent this issue. IMO dry brushing is likely to further irritate or inflame skin and further damage the skin barrier.
Has your girlfriend been advised which known irritants to avoid in skincare and haircare, particularly sulphates and other anionic surfactants? And what ingredients and actives help to repair the skin's barrier function? Is she currently consuming an anti-inflammatory diet? |

She doesn't use the cream long term but I was wondering if there was anything we could also do when she has to use the cream, also she is not on any special diet other than generally eating more vegetables and she doesn't eat red meat anyway. Thanks for the help guys, she also uses various skin care products to help her but I can't quite remember them at the minute. thank you very much for the help. |
