I been having this horrible virus for over 2 yrs and nothing seems to stop it.. Well i try to manage it as best as i can with topical 2% salicylic, 10% bp, myrtle oil, etc. But always end up with a derm visit for removal.Maybe i am not consistent and i just came across another promising medical article. I will need a md or somewhere in the field to pull the article for me..It is:
"Combination of Essential Oil of Melaleuca alternifolia and Iodine in the Treatment of Molluscum Contagiosum in Children by Eric Markum and John Baillie"
Basically tea tree oil with organically bound iodine or iodone alone.. I need to know whats the % mixture?
thanks |

My son had this when he was younger - it affected his entire torso, but thank God, not his face. It was crazy hard to get rid of.
I did so much research on it at the time and what ultimately worked for us was using colloidal silver. We used this kit from http://www.molluscum.com/Default.asp (NOT cheap but it totally worked).
I've heard some folks (mom's on a mothering forum) report great success and some not so much. If you've tried other things and nothing has worked you might want to consider it.
I remember part of the instructions after applying the salve and liquid bandaid was that at some point, I actually had to "pop" the little molluscums... then apply more of the silver... etc.... and bam, they were totally gone. It was hard at the time because my little boy was only two years old and we had to hold him down to squeeze those suckers. And it probably hurt... Now he has itty bitty depressions/scars on his torso (he's 6 now) but they are fading...
The very best of luck to you! |

My child also has molluscum. Had been to the dermatologist a number of times. Did some research and came up with a terrific oil blend that works wonders on the molluscum - better than anything provided by the doctor. My blend contains the following: Tamanu oil, Ravinstara oil, Ravensara oil, Tea Tree oil, Niaouli oil and Rosehip seed oil. Apply twice each day. It really keeps the molluscum in check. Have not had any need to return to the derm since using the blend. |
