Hi all,
I've been reading a few posts lately in order to get some ideas on what I can do for my skin. Anyway, after reading some posts I am now more confused than ever as to what to do! I've been reading about the tripollar Stop and facial exercises in particular. Have they worked for anyone? I'm 31 but my skin started ageing very eary when i was around 23. Ever since then i've felt like i'm fighting a losing battle. I've tried so many different things. My skin does have sun damage but all is from when I was a child, i've been very careful since which is why i'm gutted it appears to have ruined my skin. I always wear sun protection and i've used vitamin c, glycolic peels, retin a, vitamin e, had microdermabrasion, botox and fillers etc. and although they helped for a time, my main problem now is my lower face is sagging and I have marionette lines at my age. I've had them since I was about 27. The fillers worked for a time but now they seem to do nothing. Also I am wary of using any more because my face already looks bottom heavy to me as my cheeks are hollow when i'm not smiling - i hate it I had a botox disaster 2 years ago and my face went even worse after that and i don't use it anymore. What has worked for any of you guys? Also maybe it didnt help problems that i had cancer and a bad break up a few years ago but still, i would have thought my skin would have recovered as i nuture it inside and out! Thanks in advance for anyone's help! |

Hiya - I thought I'd reply to your post, as I can somewhat empathise with your predicament skincare-wise. I'm 42, and have probably used all the things you have to try to keep my skin young-looking and healthy, and i'm not sure if I'm winning the battle! I have to say that stress plays a HUGE part in how skin looks, as we can't see our own facial expressions, so if we're under pressure and frowning alot, it'll show in our faces The only thing you haven't mentioned is laser skin renewal as opposed to glycolic peels. I haven't tried them myself, however I was speaking to a nurse this morning who works in a skincare clinic, and she tells me that the effects are excellent, but can be expensive. I've had botox like you, but the effects last 3 months at the most, and the filler I tried last year lasted only about the same length of time. Some people have seriously strong facial muscles, which seems to also be a factor in the formation of lines & wrinkles, especially if you're quite expressive. As I'm eternally on a quest for the holy grail, and you seem knowledgeable about what your skin needs are, then I won't advise you what to do! Just really wanted to say that you're not alone, but try to keep smiling - that's also the best exercise you can do for your face!! |

Hi Bunts,
Unfortunately, I can't give you any magic advice that would provide you with instant results that you wish for, but only assure you that you are not alone on this quest. I'm not sure if those marionette lines that you've mentioned are nose-to-mouth or mouth-to-chin ones? I had the former ones (also developed in my twenties) and I managed to reduce them with facial exercises, however, the downside was that I was left with gaunter look, so if you're already suffering from hollow cheeks, be careful if you decide to embark on some facial exercise program. In any case, there are number of threads on facial exercises and tripollar devices in DIY subforum, so start reading . Many people had good results form both, so it's worth researching.
Also, you may want to check out AALS thread, since this device is also expected to promote collagen production over time. I personally haven't noticed any visible thickening of the skin, but it definitely improved the skin texture.
In any case, I believe that the answer to your question what to do next, is simply to keep looking! Good luck! |

Years ago I read a book by Dr. Denese, an anti aging doctor. She recommended against facial exercises but does offer electro magnetic stimulation in her office. You can buy machines for home use.
Loss of collagen starts in our 20's and is the reason for sagging. Try taking NeoCell Super Collagen. |

Dear Bunts,
If your skin started aging in your early twenties, then that could be a signal of a hormone problem.
I remember watching something on television about a 13 year old who looked like a middle-aged woman. Here's the link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCl3f-F4uNY
I would suggest speaking to an endocrinologist about this. |

Nutrition is absolutely critical to healthy, young-looking skin and wellbeing. But modern diets nearly always fall short in delivering the nutrients that are essential to our body’s optimal functioning.
