Lately the pores on and around my nose are looking huge and clogged(blackheads?). What's best way to get rid of this? I am currently using beta hydroxy and that seemed to be keeping them at bay, but now they seem to be flaring up. And I have oily skin, I figure you need to know that in order to suggest a product.
Thanks

You're already using a salicylic acid product? Maybe you need to try a different one. Apparently pH has alot to do with BHA's working properly. I think the Paula's Choice line (cosmeticscop.com) is supposed to have some good choices.

Thats the one I use, Paula's Choice. I find it keeps all of my other pores clear, just the ones on and around my nose are really stubborn. And I'm using the stongest, 2%, beta hydroxy.

Right! The PC BHA is the best for blackheads. It took months for mine to go away. Now I'm left with holes on my nose! But I still use the BHA 1-2 times per month for maintenance.

Have you tried Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant? It is great for unclogging pores.

Liz, you're right. A good exfoliant might do the trick!

I have clogged pores on and around my nose. I have found that using a mask at least twice a week (sometimes 3 times) keeps them alot clearer therefore smaller and less noticeable. I was surprised at the difference. Pick one that is 'deep cleansing'. Goodluck!

Dr Hauschka Cleansing Cream
Embarassed I'm sorry I keep mentioning it every time a question about blackheads and pores comes up but it just worked so well for me that I can't ignore it! Anxious

Thanks guys! The microfoliant sounds really good, although it is kind of expensive, is there anything that would give the same results but cheaper? Rosewater, what kind of mask, clay? what brand do you use?

The microfoliant is good. It seems expensive but it will last you at least 6 months using it once a day. Mine is still going and I've had it for 7 months.

Mabsy, that Dr H cleansing cream sounds good Smile

Tiffy, I use a few different masks and rotate around. My favourite is a clay mask. I haven't tried any of the masks sold through EDS. I'm new Embarassed Cool The clay one I use is a green tea, clay and honey mask (Beauty and the Bees). It comes as a powder and you mix it up as you need it with either water or flower water. I also like Mask of Magnaminty by Lush cosmetics. It's key ingredients are bentonite gel, kaolin and honey.

I'm not sure what country you are in. Maybe somebody can suggest something similiar that is accessed from EDS?

Rosewater,

Dr Hauschka has a mask that sounds similar. It's a clay mask and it's basically powder and you just mix a bit up with water when you need to use it. Got really good reviews here but I haven't tried it yet.

oh neat! I'm thinking of trying a small Dr Hauschka kit. The one for oily skin and then I can try out the Cream Cleanser and the Clay mask before buying a big one. Very Happy

This kit contains Dr. Hauschka's Cleansing Cream, Clarifying Toner, Normalizing Day Oil, Facial Steam Bath, Cleansing Clay Mask and Rejuvenating Mask.

keep us posted how you go!

If you're a bit tight on funds, when using a mask that you make up with water, you can use a pastry brush Embarassed instead of a proper mask brush to apply it to your face.
