I'm reading more and more positive things about Chia seeds and wanted to ask those of you who regularly use them in shakes, salads, baked goods, etc... what have these healthy seeds done for you personally in regards to your skin and health? Sell me on them! |

I love chia seeds....primarily because they are super high fiber, high in protein and omega 3's, and low in calories and carbs. I prefer the ground seeds over the whole ones. I have posted on EDS previously (I think) about chia...most likely a few years ago if you want to do a search.
I sprinkle them on salads, add to protein shakes, etc....a great way to feel full AND poop regularly if you are doing a low carb diet.
FYI that the white and black seeds have the same nutritional profile, but some of the "branded" white seeds (like Salba) have marketing that says otherwise. I actually ready 2 books about chia seed and they poo-poo'd that theory that white seeds are better.
You also want to avoid pyramid marketing schemes that sell chia seed...you don't need to pay high prices for this. |

They are great for fiber and keeping you full feeling. love them for crunch on salads, just drink water as they do suck it up and if you don't drink they will steal yours! |

Sorry to get back to this topic so late. I've been busting my hump doing some heavy yard work for the last couple of weeks and haven't been on here as much as usual.
Good to know they will keep me regular and feeling full. How about differences in your skin? I'm assuming that since they are high in omega 3s they would help to soften lines and plump up the skin a bit. Is that correct? |

I really believe all the healthy things we do for our insides show on the outside, I never think it is just one single thing we eat or supplement but a combination of many!
I have watched how I eat since I was around 20 and was living on my own and at 58 I have very resilient, elastic and plump skin! |

I make the chia gel and keep it in a small pitcher in the fridge. I add it to beverages and smoothies.
I like the gel much better than the seeds.

I just soak them and flax seeds in a bit of EVOO or Flax Seed oil for about 10 minutes and then sprinkle on a salad, I enjoy the added crunch! |

I make a chia gel as well, they float in liquid. No improvements in my skin before or after, I just like the way they taste and feel. |

That was pretty much my point earlier, if you are eating a healthy diet one thing or another won't show up on your skin, the good combo is what makes our skin healthy along with our entire body! |
