Looking to buy a sunscreen while being on Obagi Clear and Blender. There are three products available: the sunscreen, sun block, and sun shield. I wonder what the differences are for these three products? Thanks

I don't think any topical product can be labeled "sun block" since the new FDA regulations...

But all three products have spf above 30, so they are ultimately sunscreens. I just want to know which one is for me, why I need to choose one over the other, otherwise how will I make the decision?

Snakebaby Im not sure which Obagi ones you are considering, but here is a review of 3 of them:

http://beauty.drjohnstover.com/blog/bid/76079/Obagi-Sunscreens-my-personal-opinion-I-ve-tried-them-all

My choice would be the Physical spf32 one with 18.5% zinc oxide (doesnt say what form: micronized, bulk or nano or whether its coated or not).

The other 2 contain chemical filters that break down in UV light to form free radicals on the skin.

HTH!

Thank you very much for the information, fawnie, that is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately, it came too late for me. There are few things running out that I just couldn't wait anymore, so I decided to order the sun shield 50, only because it is spf 50 and many reviews say good thing about it, but of course, I was unaware of the potential radicals it might create. I thought the sun block 32 was sunfader which I used before and it irritated my skin so I didn't pick that one. Well, now I got no choice but waiting for the new product to run out then I'll try the one you recommended. Hopefully one tube of sun shield would not create enough of radicals that would damage my skin.

Did you just order, you just posted yesterday?

Could you either call or email the company and try to change your order? Tell them you ordered the one in error and you know from experience it is irritating to your skin. Smile

I think you will be just find with the one you picked, snakebaby. You have a mix of chemical/physical with that product.

There are a ton of differing opinions on what is the best sunscreen, and honestly it comes down to being a very personal choice and also finding one that you like and will actually wear.

On a side note, I just read this article this evening (not a scientific source) stating that Zinc may release free radicals - so honestly it is anyone's guess.

Great Riley, another one that says zinc is possibly bad! We just can't win can we? Sad

They shipped quickly so it's already on the way. Now with conflicting/confusing information, guess I don't have to worry much at this point. My cheeks have been itching for the past week, hope the sun shield and exfordem I just ordered would not irritate the areas more. btw, do you guys have tips on relieving itchiness? Thanks for all the helpful information:)
