Ok its summer and I am tired of wearing sneakers in the sun. Is it possible to get acrylic done on a foot that already has fungus on them...? I know its gross to think bout but I am desperate... I have tried all the creams and oils and even the home remedies and its not going away... I don't have 2000 dollars to go and have it laser-ed off... I heard it actually works but again I don't have that kind of money...
Please help me. I miss having to wear sandals and not worry about what my toe nails took like... |

No nail Tech worth a thing would apply acrylic over a nail already infected with fungus. I love acrylic nails don't get me wrong but they are notorious for getting moisture trapped under them and causing fungus growth if not careful!
Have you seen a doctor to get a medication for this and stuck with it? It can take time to clear up. |

I was a nail tech on and off for 20 years, and DarkMoon is correct; don't ever put acrylic over a nail with fungus. There are probably some nail chop shops that would do it, but you are asking for more problems down the line.
Have you actually gone to see a specialist to get a stronger medication for the fungus? I'm sure there are other solutions than a $2000 laser. |

Absolutely sandooch and other issues may appear to be fungus but it could be something entirely different. I am a big believer in a second opinion! |

I have had a toe nail fungus for 25 years ,went to 3 doctors and finally took a prescription drug called Lamisil, very strong, alot of side effects had to have blood work every 6 weeks very hard on your liver. It did clear up after 3 months, but came 4 months later. I do have one acrylic nail on my big toe and have had it for 15 years. My nail tech is great and she puts a fake nail on and than the acrylic gel after.I have not had any problems and it looks great. I live in Florida so I'm always in something open toed. |

Thats great Leggy. Have you tried bovine colostrum supps for the fungus?
I took it for a year and it cleared up the toenail fungus Id been battling for 10 yrs. Without the liver toxicity of Lamisil. Au contraire, colostrum has lots of benefits in addition to stimulating and enhancing our own immune system. |
