Is a new gimmick to loose weight by scent
See the write up below:
A British Company called The Fragrance Shop has begun selling a perfume said to help with weight loss.
Prends Moi Eau De Minceur is described as 'the world’s first slimming fragrance' and is made by the company Velds. It was developed by the French company Robertet and retails for £29.99 for 100ml. The British newspaper, The Daily Mail today featured an article on the product, which will no doubt add to demand for the product for which there is already a waiting list.
The product information on The Fragrance Shop website says:
"Designed to ‘slim with pleasure’ PRENDS-MOI (which meanst Take Me) is based on extensive aromatherapeutic and ‘neurocosmetic’ research and contains active ingredients including ‘Betaphroline’ which when it comes in to contact with keratinocytes (cells found in the outer layer of the skin) will induce the release of B-endorphins present in the skin. A ‘pleasure message’ is transmitted through the neurotransmitters (impulse from a nerve cell to another nerve, muscle, organ or other tissue) to the hippocampus (the ‘odour brain’) triggering an immediate sensation of well being, a reduction in stress and an increase in contentment reducing the need to overeat and the scents slimming action is activated.
Top notes, with lively accents of bergamot, mandarin and grapefruit, are placed in a deliciously fresh ambience. The middle notes are a flight of floral scents where jasmine responds to ylang-ylang and freshly picked lilac. The base notes combine musk and vanilla with patchouli and the woodsy intensity of sandalwood. With a low alcohol content, PRENDS-MOI is perfect for those who love summer all year long."
The Veld company website says Prends Moi is "inspired by the Benguela stream at the origin of the very special vegetation of the Fynbos, the scrub-land of western South Africa, PRENDS-MOI caresses the skin like rushing water delivering aquatic, fruity and floral scents from a fantasy Garden of Eden…"
Application is recommended on the Veld website: "In the morning, simply spray PRENDS-MOI with the same gesture you would use for an "eau de toilette".
Active ingredients are said by Veld to be:
"BETAPHROLINE: The Betaphroline is able to stimulate (by 170%) the production of beta-endorphins on the skin level (keratinocytes), just by being sprayed on the skin, producing a chain-reaction through theneuro-transmitters up the olfactory brain, which reacts very quickly in return with all over general sensations of well-being (+ 40%) and reduced stress (-35%).
These pleasurable feelings are able to reduce compulsive eating behaviour, which are most of the time caused by anxiety and stress, and not by real hunger (e.g. chocolate, cake, junk-food…). To benefit from its lipolytic action, you may spray once in the morning and once in the evening on the specific areas that you wish to slim.
Every time that you feel the need to nibble something although you are not really hungry, don’t hesitate to quickly spray on PRENDS-MOI and nestle yourself in its delicious wave."
The perfume has already been tested by Birgit Oeckher of the blog Olfactoria's Travels, who wore Prends Moi for a week and reported her findings on the Perfume Smellin' Things blog as a guest post. While she reported that she had indeed lost 1.5 kg during the week, she ascribed this to the tenacity of the perfume that she disliked so intensely, bemoaning the fact that she was not able to wear anything for pleasure until the evening
There is a 6,000 waitlist for the product. Any Brits know of this? Anyone tried this? Where can I buy some? |
