Hey everyone.
I've been on Differin 0.3, a weaker type of retinoid, for about 12 weeks now. I gotta say I am 99% clear. However, I noticed that the Differin made my pores look bigger and the texture of my skin doesn't look horrible, but it isn't great.. Much worse than before. My pores were invisible before I started Differin. I was planning on switching from 0.3 to 0.1. I'm hoping that it'll put some layers of skin back on to make my pores less noticeable. Any suggestions? I'm hoping to start on 0.1 in a couple days, but I want to hear some advice before I do it. If I stop using the Differin, will my skin go back to what it used to be - invisible pores? |

I want to preface this by saying that I know absolutely nothing about Differin.
But I wonder whether you've dried out your skin? I just mention it because since summertime's come about and I've been drinking more & eating tons of fruit, my pores have been looking so much smaller.
Btw I'm totally jealous re the invisible pores! |

I would feel wrong if i didn't share my experience and possibly help prevent what happened to me. I have had hormonal chin acne for years. Was finally prescribed duac (benzoyl peroxide) and differin. 3. That aworked for several years to keep acne at bay but i started noticing negative texture changes. My skin was irritated and wrinkly. I quit the topicals when i concieved. I assumed it was the duac since i learned the dangers of bp...and how differin only stimulated collagen. Well with pregnancy my hormones went nuts and my chin broke out in cysts for the first trimester. After pregnancy i decided to go back on differin...not duac...to help with acne and texture. After seven weeks not only was texturw worse but the areas that had cysts nine months prior became depressed n i quit the differin several months ago and things have not improved. I've been devasted by this and am now seeking scar treatment. Not that this would happen to you in terms of scarring but if you are seeing negative changes i would quit now and save your self grief...i would give anything to go back and do the same. Lots of people seem to have similar experiences with retin a...which differin is a form of. Good luck and if you bounce back please update on what you did. |
