On a few other forums, people have complained of hair loss from WEN products.

Have you or anyone you know ever experienced hair loss from WEN cleansing conditioners?

If so, why do you think that this would happen?

I did not know that Wen hair products are not good. I was able to buy it online. Maybe the products are made in china? Any feedback from other forum members on Wen products????
Thanks Smile

Recently I tried Wen and didn't care for it at all, haven't had any hair loss but grateful for that. I, too, read some iffy reviews before giving it a try.

There were quite a lot of people on the QVC forum talking about hair loss when using WEN, so you might want to check that out (I came across if researching WEN). Not used it myself though having seen that!

I wonder if it has to do with them not having a proper protein-moisture balance.

if i'm not mistaken, i think wen contains a silicone, and since you're not supposed to use shampoo, i wonder if it smothers hair follicles.

i don't use wen, but i do use conditioner to cleanse my hair with - i've done it for years and haven't had a problem. i look for the blandest, silicone-free conditioner. i think though, the most important thing is to listen to your scalp - sometimes it needs a good shampoo, which isn't part of a lot of these "conditioner only" routines/programs.

ishkane3,

It seems as if you're correct. See this thread: http://forums.longhaircommunity.com/showthread.php?t=73935

The ads did not say that WEN hair products contain silicone... I think we buy on impulses on what we want to hear. Some of these ads are not true then??? I wanted to try WEN hair products and did not buy. It is good that I did not buy... otherwise, I will lose my hair.,,,,

Another thing, be careful when ordering from Wen directly. My Mother in Law used our card while she's visiting to try it out and now we're getting billed monthly. She phoned them again to say to stop the charges. So if you want to try it, go through Sephora or QVC.

I was using Hair One, which is the Wen equivalent available at Sally's Beauty supply, and I experienced terrible hair loss. It took me switching back to my old shampoo routine to realize it.

When I was using Hair One, I would have so much hair in the drain after one washing, I would have to clean it out after every shower. I thought it was hormonal or something...never imagined it was Hair One.

I ran out of Hair One and went back to my old shampoo and conditioner, and realized my hair wasn't falling out near as bad.

Be careful using this stuff!

The Beauty Brains just posted an article on this topic.
http://thebeautybrains.com/2012/09/01/will-wen-cleansing-conditioner-make-my-hair-fall-out/

I tend to agree with the article however I know we each have our own experience. I tried Wen but found the EO's so irritating I couldn't even finish the bottle.

Well, it's October and guess what...still having problems with Wen's customer service. Never, ever give them your credit card info. My Mother in Law already has phoned them twice and they just don't let up. I'm about to threaten them with harassment or something.

So just play it safe and get this off of Ebay or QVC.

Hi WhiteWolf, can you mother just dispute the charge with her credit card company? A lot of times if you call Visa/MasterCard etc. and explain the problem they will help you out. Good luck.

I had this happen and the minute a repeat charge happened, I called cc company and they cancled my card and issued a new one. They said with some of these its the only way to stop it, if they change the charge amount by a penny it will keep going through.

My husband let her use our credit card while she's visiting here and used our address. We recently had credit card fraud and got issued a new card but they are still after our money now via the post. Past due notices, "missing product not received" letters, etc. She phoned them up twice and told them to bill her in the UK, not here. She's going to have to call them again.

Yes, I heard that Wen makes such credit card charges.

I'm really sorry to hear that. It seems like one should get their products from QVC or Amazon.

FWIW, I've been using L'Oreal's Cleansing Conditioner (similar to Wen) for a while and haven't had any excessive shedding.

A friend of mine order the Wen Shampoo and she did also start to loss hair, she went to the doctor and he told her that the Wen shampoo causes clogging of the hair follicle due to the essential oils that are in it.

He told her to get a good clarifying shampoo or put tea tree oil in her shampoo and jojoba oil and those are sebum emulsifying oils that will unclog the follicles. She did that and her hair came back healthy and full again.

I've decided not to buy it. Don't stick to one brand, but usually change my shampoo every now and then. However, I deep condition my hair every month (a must) as I shampoo every day.

I bought their products and didn't know about the hair loss issue. I wasn't fond of combing the product through as recommended as it pulled alot of hair out! It also clogs my drain, throwing it all out asap.

Wen made my hair fall out.
I found out why.
My hair is growing back.
My hairline is filling in.
(after 2 years of hair loss, I started to have Sir Isaac Newton's hairline.)

The reason why is because it wasn't cleaning and the yeast that lives on the scalp was proliferating and creating loss etc.

Mix 1/2 teaspoon of Monostat (yes- yeast cream)
with
2 tablespoons of Water

Add to scalp ( non greasy) with a dye applicator bottle. Gently it in where there might be any residue. Leave it on til next shampoo. (2-3 days for my long hair at age 49). It is starting to look lustrous again and not all droopy and weird.

I do not yet know the frequency of maintinance.
I am posting this as a public service.

Stop the shedding. My Hair slowed shedding in the first application and now is normal 25 hairs per wash. It was coming out in clumps up to 200 or more hairs each time.

I don't have time to answer questions. Just spreading the word. You can too!

Let's love one another.
Very Happy

LauraSIS, you could also just use Nizoral shampoo which is available at grocery stores. But if you color your hair, it can be very dulling to the color.

I've never used WEN products, BUT I do "co wash" my hair. I haven't used shampoo on my hair in months. I use Suave Rosemary Mint conditioner which makes my hair shiny and clean and not a bit of hair loss.

Hair loss happened to me as well. There are a group of women on the Q that have not had any problems with this product, and if anyone posts about hair loss some of them can be quite angry. They just can't believe this could happen with this "wonderful product". Wen has to be aware of this and IMO they are ignoring the problem probably because this hasn't affected their bottom line.
