As the question states, is Alpha Arbutin safe to use, but longterm?

The product in question: Nufountain C20+ Lightening

I want to use this for anti-ageing and lightening age spots/blemishes. I can't seem to find much out about all of this.

Please help me?

Hi. A friend of mine used an arbutin lotion with a 7% concentration with no problems..... she combined this with a kojic acid cream. She had no problems. She have hyperpigmentation /melasma from birth control and this has worked. Arbutin has not been known to cause hyperpigmentation like hydrquinone.

Hope this helped

I used a facial moisturizer with Arbutin. I think that it was alpha arbutin, but I'm not sure.

I had no problems whatsoever with the moisturizer.

Thank you so much! Do you think that I would see results when using it once a day? Some people say twice is better, but some say it doesn't make a difference.

What are your experiences/views?

I was supposed to use mine twice a day. But I usually ended up applying it once a day because I often forgot in the evenings.

Yes, it worked very well.

But a lot will depend on the product that you need.

If you google you will find lots of info on this:
A good site is this:
http://www.smartskincare.com/conditions/pigmentation/hyperpigmentation-treatments.html

I use hydroquinone as prescribed by my Dr at 4%. I think for the short term to help with issues its okay to use. Many people say its safe and I believe so, but I wouldn't use it forever. I just don't know if there's proper studies showing either its safe or usafe. Perhaps some exerts can chime in here. I just think its one of those skincare ingredients where some say its safe and others not so much Confused

Another discussion is here: http://www.skincaretalk.com/t/29490/arbutin-is-just-as-bad-as-hydroquinone/20

Also in a moisturiser wouldnt it be buffered a little by other ingredients? Anyways Good luck with it Smile

I used Arbutin for 3 years without issue. Like any product, however, I suggest that you do your research before getting it. You can try looking over that thread that dione posted.

I once read that prolonged use of hydroquinione can cause ochronosis.

I saw results within roughly a month.

It's also important to avoid the sun as much as possible.

my experience with alpha arbutin... it's safe but useless as well; I used it at 5% concentration.... I wanted my face to match my neck/body.. sometimes it looked as if it was happening but the final verdict is, not even close! I used it for 2.5 years along with other skin lightening diy ingredients...

From where did you get your Alpha Arbutin? And do you still have your recipe?

I'm just baffled that it didn't work for you. Arbutin was almost miraculous for me. It made my face the same color as my body.

I've been using Alpha Arbutin for only a short period of time (approx 5 weeks) and I'm already seeing some lightening.
