Hi. If I don't have acne and am 40, could I get a prescription of retin-a from a dermatologist here in London? Or does there have to be a medical not an aesthetic reason! Do let me know as I don't want to spend hundreds seeing a dermatologist if I haven't a chance in hell. Thank you!

Hi Jaywa and welcome to EDS. I don't know if it is the same way in England but most people in the US get Retin A from a dermatologist for anti aging so it doesn't have to be for acne. Now most insurance plans here in the US don't cover Retin A if not used for acne but you can still get a prescription from your Doctor and pay cash. Just you won't get reimbursed for it.

It maybe different because of your healthcare system there. Hopefully someone will answer with knowledge from England.

I would guess a family doc could help too.

(I think) I read somewhere on this forum that some members buy Retin-A online at ALLDAYCHEMIST.COM.
Not sure if you still need a prescription for Retin-A when you buy at Alldaychemist.com.
I am in Canada and I buy Retin-A at Walmart with a prescription.
