I'm a male, 64, fit and active, who got tired of how tired and saggy the eyes looking back at me from the mirror were and had upper and lower blepharoplasties done (and a neck lift to get rid of saggy skin under the chin and jowls). I'm very pleased with the results and friends think it took 15-20 years off of my looks. I'm particularly impressed, that even without makeup, which I won't be using, you can't tell that surgery has been done.

Now to my question. Prior to my consult for the above, I thought the blepharoplasties would take care of everything around my eyes, but the surgeon said that part of what I have are "malar bags", the first time I'd heard that term, and that surgery doesn't help with those.

Mine aren't too bad I don't think, and I'm wondering if there is something topical I can use which will minimize or eliminate the malar bags, but not be or look like makeup.

I've read about Easy Eye Solution, is that a good approach? Are there other good options.

Thanks!!
Ben

FYI that malar bags are also referred to as festoons.

I would definitely give the Easy Eye Solutions a try...I have never used it, but Toby raves about it. I think she has a review thread under the Product Reviews sub-forum.

There was a woman on the Dr. Oz show that had her festoons treated. The Dr. that performed the procedure did an amazing job.

Here is a link to the episode. I think you will find a lot of useful information here.

Hey Ben,
Great about you turning back the hands of time with your surgeries....I am the one that has been crazy about what Easy Eye Solutions has done for my under eye area. I will give you a link to my photos and mine are the second set on the page. My guess is the tuck might be all you need in the product line Very Happy

I learned something new. I'd never heard of festoons. I thought they were just bags and figured lower bleph would fix it.

It's great to hear about a middle-aged man getting surgery to look better. I wish more men would.

Ben

flipping thru a daily city paper at some airport yesterday and an ad caught my eye...a before and after pic of some guy with eyebags and underneath pic of same guy > no eyebags. There was no website address listed for this place that performs this procedure (so can't link to it)so I tore the ad out,(it was not a current paper) and slipped it into my pocket. I had never heard of Carboxytherapy and thought it'd be interesting to google it some day just as an informational point of interest.
Seredipidity provides a recent post here at EDS seeking 'eye' options...so here's some info.
Ad reads:
Get beautiful eyes with 'Carboxytherapy'

(The place is called Genesis in, ummm, Rochester, NY USA)

Well, I invested $74 on the Easy Eye Solutions tuck product, and have been using it for a week.

Count me among the converted. After using it for 2 days, the skin in that area was flat--formerly there was enough of a bag that I would periodically nick them shaving. Now it is flat.

This has to be the perfect product, especially for a guy. Invest 30 seconds each morning rubbing a tiny drop in under each eye and forget about it. I haven't experienced any of the stiffness or flaking or whiteness some have described. It looks entirely natural to me.

I didn't have a dark circles problem, strictly the bags or festoons which sit just above the cheekbones. This on top of my blepharoplasty has done wonders for the way my eyes look.

I probably should figure out how to post pictures and put up some before and after. I would not have found and bought this product without the reading I did on here.

Thanks to all of you who have provided so much information.

Ben - I had a similar problem after one of my cheek implants became infected, I developed a malar bag (a protrusion on my cheek just below the lower eyelid.

I did research and I've found two doctors in the U.S. who use laser to correct the problem of bags on the lower lid and upper cheek area.

One is in Tampa, Florida. He is an opthalmalogist and a plastic surgeon and performs miracles with a laser. His name is Adam Scheiner MD.

The other is doctor is Joe Niamtu in Virginia, also treats festoons with laser and seems to do a very good job, not gouging on prices:
