A lot of DIY recipes are based on vitamin C- serums using LAA. My own is experience with LAA is that my skin turns red, as the skin starts to peel and also the low Ph irritates my skin. The same can be said for retinols.

How can I turn the clock back and get healthy, glowing/toned skin without using LAA and retinols? Are there any recipes based on more gentle ingredients for sensitive skin?

I don't mind a few wrinkles, but I hate when my skin starts to look pale, dry and lackluster. I have just turned the age of 42 and have accepted that wrinkles are here to stay.

Capricorn,
I am in the same boat - I do understand the benefits of C and A for the skin but I had a lot of irritation as well. My skin looked ruddy and dull. When I used different forms I had better luck.

Instead of LAA: I find serums with either MAP or Tetra-C.

Instead of REtin-A: I have been using Osmosis Correct, which is has vitamin A. It does not irritate my Skin.

I would love to try this, but I don't have $150 right now. It has both A and C and there have been some positive reviews: http://www.mvorganics.com/products/pacific-night-serum-retinol

You might also want to try a LED device. Gives a great glow.

I hope that helps.

Am I the only one, who can't tolerate LAA on my skin?

Has anyone tried out DIY recipes using MAP instead of LAA?

I've read that MAP is almost as effective as LAA but without irritating the skin.

You are not the only one who can't use LAA, my skin gets very irritated by it too. You can try to use an oil soluble form of vitamin C. Or skip the C altogether and go for oils and ingredients like Q10 to give your skin a boost. And don't forget aloe vera!
There are many natural, gentle things out there you can try. In the DIY section you will find a lot of recipes based on oils like rosehip seed oil, with essential oils like boswellia (frankincense) and geranium. You could try taking yoghurt masks regularly, combined with honey. And try out the many recipes with essential oils. And of course try skin brushing to see if that picks up circulation and brings back that glow!
