Having just had a strong deficiency vitamin D test result, I thought I'd take advantage of the warm weather and just give my skin ten minutes each morning in the sun before using my sunscreen.
I've noticed though that the skin on my face is really stinging, it's not burned at all, no pinkness, just sore, and especially under my eyes.
I'm wondering if this is as I'm using CE Ferulic daily, and my skin is just too sun sensitive on it. I did have this once on holiday a few years ago when I was using Dermalogica age smart mosituriser. It doesn't help that my skin doesn't like the new Devita either, and doesn't feel in the least bit moisturised on it. I'm busy looking for a suitable alternitive.
So I was wondering, is even a little blast of sun unprotected out of the question if you are using such products? |

I would say YES. Powerful cosmetic products have a tendancy to thin the skin, esp facial skin, which is already thin.
Plus, if you are doing this immediately after waking, your skin is most likely getting shocked. It's been resting all night and then BAM. Sunlight.
If your skin is consistently stinging in this way, something may be off. Are you moisturizing enough at night? This CE Ferulic product contains a lot of acid and it is never advisable to follow acid treatment with direct sunlight. Plus, our bodies absorb Vitamin D from indirect sunlight as well as direct sunlight. There's no real need to treat your face to direct sunlight unless tanning. You could always lay out and let your back soak the sun up. Also, try letting your arm hang out the window every once in a while. No need for your face to do the soaking.
If you are looking for a sunscreen, I'd try a travel size of Eminence Tropical Vanilla Sunscreen. It's about $20 bucks and mine lasted me over a month. Plus, it builds moisture in skin. It's good stuff, turned my skin around. Good luck! |

I would strongly recommend not to make up Vita D deficiency by exposing your face to direct sunlight, but the body skin should be ok like 15 minutes a day, but no face!!!! our face gets enough sunlight already without us realizing it....
*I just realized that Lightshox already suggested the same.... |

I thought just sitting out on the back step for a while would be nice before I got in the shower and into my usual routine. Thank you though, I won't expose my face gain!
The regime has been the same one I've been on for the last couple of years, although in the usual UK summers it hasn't been something I've done before. I've had no irritation at all, so it must be the sun. I do feel since using the newer devita though my skin just isn't being moisturised as well as it needs to be so I'm going to get on the case with finding something new.
Thank you |
