Hello everyone Very Happy

Sooo I got my hair done at a salon at the begging of august to a brown color, what I asked for was for them to match my natural ash color but of course for some reason I got auburn hair.

Again throughout the year I ordered some herbatint hair color in dark ash blonde. It came out red light brown.Gah!

I want to dye my hair again now with Naturcolor, I know some of you have tried it, I'm wondering how good there ash colors are or maybe I should go for there natural color selection? Anyways here are my questions:

Why did my hair come out red?

What can I do so it doesn't come out red next time?

And what is the difference between herbatint and naturcolor?

Whats the salon color VS. the organic at home boxes?

Does naturcolor have the abliity to lift.

If I go and put ash dye on will it cancel out the red color that's there right now? If I choose a natural color will it cancel out the red?

How bad is ash dye(compared to others) I heard it drys out your hair?

Funny as it is I'm considering going for there copper color selections but I want a dark red not a brass, brass is the color I keep getting.

If you could help it would be appreciated Smile

Your hair turned out red because your stylist did not properly formulate the hair color to counteract your natural dominant underlying pigment. A common rookie mistake.

Speaking from my own experience and 20 year quest for a decent dye job, you will not be able to get a decent result from a box. If you are then you are very very lucky or you have no underlying pigment (Jennifer Anniston being one of this 1%). If you think about it, how can three people with different hair colors pick up a box of hair color and expect to have hair like the box?? I'm making the assumption you are talking about permanent color.

On salon color and box dye- they are the same chemical reactions. I truly do believe that the quality of pigment is superior at most salons. There are exceptions to every rule, I have professional color shipped to my house through a third party.

Ash hair dye is no different than the other colors, it merely has more green pigment in it. Feel free to toss in an oil with any forumla for a healthier looking result.
Please do not layer hair color on top of whatever result you have, the existing permanent color really has to come out for best results. Results of layer upon layer (for me) was a dull dark blobby looking color.

Please read this website from beginning to end, I was 15 years into my quest for nice hair, and this was the thing that finally filled in the gaps for me. I am in no way affiliated with this company, they really just changed the way I think of hair color. Sorry for the novel, I'm just really passionate about this.

Good luck on your quest!! I started mine after continously ending up with red, both from salons (seems like there are no qualified hair dressers out there, and I do NOT have odd hair) and also from desperate box attempts. When the case was finally cracked I had to strip off all the box dye and basically start over, and I've never looked back.
