I'm new here and this my first post, so I hope I am following proper protocol for this forum.

I have a few small, but colorful tattoos that are discreetly located on my body and as much as I love them now that their completed, I did not enjoy being stuck with the tattoo needle for hours while getting them done.

Im concerned because I recently read an article that said lotions with aloe vera in them should not be used on tattooed skin on a regular basis because aloe vera fades tattoos over time.

I use hempz as my moisturizer and regularly put it on my tattooed areas and it has aloe Vera leaf powder as an ingredient. I absolutely love hempz, but I don't want to fade my tattoos and have to get stuck with that tattoo needle again to keep them looking good.

This was the first I had heard aloe vera fades tattoos, is anyone else familiar with this? Is this true? If so,what products are best for tattooed skin?

Thanks

Hi,nothing fades tattoos except time itself, and you can only cover them with a great concealer, aloe vera will do nothing to fade the tattoo, have no fear

We were just talking about aloe recently. It has the potential to make skin more photosensitive, so in theory it could cause uv fading of the ink over time. Not all at once, but cumulatively like uv induced wrinkling and spots.

So since the tattoos are in discrete locations, I wouldn't worry about it. If they don't see sun on a regular basis you are fine.
