hi guys, great forum!

A couple of weeks ago i purchased some Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (oil based vitamin C) and mixed it in bio oil to make a 7% vitamin C serum.

Both my partner and I applied the serum once per day with incredible results for the first few days until we both noticed fine lines appearing about a week after the first application.

We both have different skin types and have not used C serum in the past. (Im 46 and he is 37).

I thought the bio oil wouldnt be a bad idea given the vitamin E content. Could it have been something in the Bio oil or would it have been the Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate?

Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated, we thought we had discovered the elixir of youth for a moment there!

thank you Smile Smile Smile Smile

I honestly don't know if this is the culprit or not, but I've heard rumors that isopropyl myristate makes acne and wrinkles worse for a lot of people. I'm not sure what percentage they put in bio oil, though.

I'm completely guessing here. I've never heard of tetra c or bio oil creating lines. But tetra C isn't as well studied as other C derivatives.

thank you for the replies, Chlorophyll I am going to look into isopropyl myristate (thanks!)

Catski, why wouldn't you use bio oil on the face?

(please know im not being a smart alec, i don't know what was the cause of this and am really puzzled by it. The skin was also notably dryer on both our faces at around the seven day mark)

thank you
