This is probably in the wrong section, but I'm wondering if anyone has tried this product yet. My facebook feed exploded with information about it today. I'm actually not that impressed with the ingredient list...but I must admit I never took glycation seriously until this year. I'm surprised carnosine isn't listed.

Here's more, with a different name:

And people wonder why I diy most of my stuff. Razz

I don't understand why there is such a big deal around this formula. The way everyone was talking, you'd think it was retinol and ascorbic acid combined. At least I don't feel crazy anymore.

what's the big deal about retinol and ascorbic acid combined? I think many products out there have em, no? or they cant be combined cause of the pH requirement?

Havent tried it but the premise seems to be beta glucans and some peptides. ANY beta glucans are great for anti-glycation but yeast 1-3 seems to be best.

http://www.bulkactives.com/betaglucan.htm

L-carnosine is an amino acid that is anti-glycation too.

http://www.bulkactives.com/carnitine.htm

These ingredients are cheap and easy to work with. There's really not much new under the sun but companies like to combine them in different ways and call them something NEW!

More about L-carnosine (naturally occuring dipeptide) as anti-glycation agent:

Wow, thanks I had no idea I could make it myself. I'll look in to that information and take a look at the recipes here.

But if you could point me in the right direction of how to use the beta- glucan and the L-canosine, I'd really appreciate it.

thank you again.

Both are water soluble actives that you incorporate into the water phase of your formula.

Yeast beta glucans: http://bulkactives.com/actives/sun-damage-repair/beta-glucan-yeast-beta-1-3-glucan.html

L-carnosine: http://stores.skinessentialactives.com/l-carnosine-99-10-grams/

Keep pH around 5-6.5.

Aloe vera in the presence of UVR damages DNA thru the free radicals it produces, so I avoid using it.
