Retin A is really good for cosmetic purposes and never had a problem with it in terms of how it made me look , if anything I was addicted to it and thought there is no other product in the market as good as Retin A for anti-aging purposes.
However it gave me depression , kidney pains , fatigue and a new one... breathing difficulties . If I switched to another brand there be new health problems (I have mentioned this before)
I wanted to have a very good quality of life and not feel like c*** all the time because of Retin A but then I discovered St Ives Timeless Skin Facial Moisturiser which has collagen/elastin . It may not be as effective as Retin A but its close enough! and has given me the results I always wanted WITHOUT the side effects.
I just wished Retin A wasn't harmful to use though most people seem to be invincible to the side effects but am I glad to have my health back! |

Hi Joseph
Wow that’s some terrible side effects, but I’m curious were you working with a derm who prescribed Retin A to you or did you self medicate? Those side effects are not common, but are not to be taken lightly for sure.
Retin A is a medication and as such that’s one of the reasons why its mostly required to have a prescription for. I know there are many who argue this, but in my experience people who tend to self medicate often do strange things that aren’t recommended and as a result get side effects and then try to persuade others that its ineffective. I’ve used it for over 30 years and have worked with the same derm that entire time (and please God don’t let him retire!!!).
For me, Retin A isn’t so much for cosmetic purposes but for its antiaging effects. There is no other antiaging topical that has more scientific studies behind it proving its effectiveness in reversing photodamaged skin etc, so I suppose it depends where you are starting off from and what issues you are working with. Not to mention what form you are using, gel, cream, microgel etc all work differently. That said, people who don’t do well with Retin A often find retinoids to be the next best things as they can deliver the same results just need a little longer to work their magic (think Green Cream etc).
Just throwing you out some food for thought!

Dont worry at least YOUR immune system is still functioning
We can eat pizza and put titanium dioxide on face and still the normal would be to feel sick if we were healthy ! |
