Hello. I've been lurking on this forum for quite a while and have been using DIY facial oils, serums and toners for nearly a year now. I've recently been considering making lotions or creams for personal use, but am wondering if it is worth the fuss (emulsifiers, preservatives, waxes, etc). Right now I apply my water-phase components to my face in serum format, followed by the oil blend. I was wondering if there is any benefit to formulating a cream or a lotion incorporating the two phases? |

I think its a personal preference Arion, but sometimes there are water soluble actives that need an emulsifying system to incorporate into a cream containing oil. Strictly water-based serums arent absorbed as well as ones with lecithin/oils, unless something like DMI or chemical penetration enhancers are being used. (which I avoid) |

IMO, the whole DIY-ing is not worth the fuss unless it is super easy (for example, making a 1% HA Serum or mixing oil-soluble actives with oil). |
