Oh, dear. I've been contributing to the pollution of the oceans of the world with the microbeads in my facial scrubs. I love microbeads! They're so much better than other scrubbing particles. I use Roc Max Resurfacing Facial Cleanser and it works great. Oil of Olay has a great facial scrub too which has microbeads in it. On the ingredients it's listed as Polyethylene. //*_*\\ Sad

Here's an article.....

Thanks for sharing this, Tiptoedancer. I've been following this story over the last while too. Here are a few other links about what they found:

If anyone is interested, there's a Windows, iOS and Adroid app for checking if a product uses microbeads:

I had no idea until someone linked the LA Times story.

I never used micro beads as my skin is so sensitive and I would rather use a clean wash cloth if exfoliate is necessary.

FWIW Here’s just a *random sample* of products w/ microbeads (inc. toothpaste, moisturizers, treatments etc.)

http://beatthemicrobead.org/images/pdf/RED%20UNITED%20STATES.pdf

Sad that apparently most companies will only be *phasing out* products w/ micro beads instead of halting production all together.
