Can someone help me with some information on Retna A. My derm. gave me a RX for it ; and I have been using it for a week. I wash my face with a gentle cleanser, wait 45 min. then apply my .5% of retna A; then wait about 1hr. and appy a moisturizer over that. I have had a very small amount of flakes around my mouth. This morning I had no flakes. Is this stuff working? |

It is ok for your skin not to get trashed from Retin-A. |

Absolutely its working. Just because your skin isn't flaking doesn't mean its not working, and you may find you don't have flakes for another 6 months or so and then overnight flaking again. Its just a reaction between your skin and the medication. I have had flaking come up at different times and have used it for over 30 years now. I have also had friends who get flaking right away at the start and some who go through 2-3 years of no flaking and then wam overnight flaking. Doesn't mean anything.

Me too.
I have been using Retin-A for almost 4 years.
I had not had any flaking issues for more than 3 years; however, 2 months ago, I got flakes all over my mouth and chin |

You were right, it just took time for the flakes to start. I bumped up to every night use of the retna a, boy, it tore my skin up. It is so tender and flaking very bad. Will go back to every other night.
I have heard a lot about copper peptides; that they work better than retna a without the side effects. Can someone give me some advise on this? Would love to try it but I really don't know which product to buy. |

Well Retin A is a prescription medicine for a reason, and starting off with 0.5 is pretty high, most people start out with 0.025% from memory. However you have only been using it a short time, and all the studies on pub med that revealed its antiaging results were conducted over a year so I think you probably need to give it a little bit more time.
With CPs again you need to give them time, but as you have started with Retin A I would suggest you keep with that for now. Don’t make the mistake of doing both – for me that seems to create more problems than cures.
