I care about my skin a lot. I used to wash it everyday with (Clarasonic + Good cleanser) with good results. I heard regularly washing your skin keeps it looking young and healthy. However, when I do wash it, I sometimes get break outs. I think it's because when I wash it, my skin starts to produce more oil.

Last 2 month, I BARELY ever washed my face. Maybe once every 5 - 6 days. Now my skin is actually SMOOTHER and barely have any acne anymore.

I am confused now because now I feel like my skin will wrinkle faster or age faster because i'm not washing it or something.

What do you guys think? What can I do? Tips?

The goal is to try and keep my skin looking young and healthy as possible.

Thanks!

I would start with the basics. Sunscreen is a must and does have proven research. I wear sunscreen everyday.

A gentle cleanser. I personally cannot use Clarisonic daily.

Patch test everything first. If you can get a sample size or trial size, great.

I have highly reactive skin. I have developed dermatitis rash (red rash with some whiteheads) from basic products. One was Clinique Super Sheer spf 25 sunscreen.

Slowly add in other products; one at time. Do NOT buy several new products and try them all at once. If you have reaction; you cannot be sure what caused it.

There is some great product lines here.

I worked with a lady that has fantastic skin. She had a great healthy diet and almost never ate junk. She did drink a lot of water and was NOT a coffee drinker.

I am not sure if it was genetics or her diet. I am not sure if she exercised. Rather stressful job but she handled stress well.

She was older than me - probably early 50's at the time.

Honestly, if your skin is better not washing it and it produces more oil when you wash it, it's probably because your cleanser is stripping the natural oils from your face in a harsh manner. The oil layer that is being stripped does indeed protect your skin...the catch-22 is that there is dirt, debris, bacteria in it...

I would stop using that cleanser and look for something else.

FWIW, personally, I don't use a cleanser because I find that virtually all of them strip the skin. Instead, I just exfoliate with an exfoliation mitt to get rid of the dirt. I find that this is less harsh on my skin.

My point is simply not to use that cleanser and to go find something else better Smile

Sounds like you are on the right track, that you care enough about your skin to even have a clarsonic.

A lot of skincare is trial and error..finding what works for you.

The important thing is to find a routine that protects your skin today, prevents future aging and damage, and conditions your skin so it looks its best all the time.

This forum is great ..and many of us switch up what we do, try new things..as some products and gadgets work great for some of us and not others.
So read reviews and threads here and just start trying things that could work for your skin type.
