I try to stick with physical sunscreens.
Chemical sunscreens irritate my skin. |

At this time I have both types. Some chemical sunscreens are irritating to me but not all.
For in office days I'll kept with chemical or a combination of the two. But from now one for long sun exposure I will trust more physical sunscreen.
Over all zinc looks like it's the best one out there for UVA. |

Physical sunscreens usually mean zinc oxide or titanium in USA. Both of them are extremely drying so companies load the sunscreen products up with oils, butter, glycerin and other greasy stuff. Not good for me.
European sunscreens contain Tinosorbs which are broad spectrum (UVA and UVB) protection on their own and arent drying so they can be made into cosmetically elegant formulations. FrenchCosmeticsForLess.com is a good place to look for them (Not affiliated with me). Uriage, Vichy and Bioderma all make Tinosorb sunscreens but they arent on USA shelves since USA doesnt recognize them. Pity cause they are superior to zinc and titanium and stable as a rock without needing to be coated.

| Thanks, I will look into Vichy and biodrema they are available in Canada. But maybe the formulation is the same as the one in europ. I look it up and keep you posted. |

This is the formula for the European Bioderma UltraFluid:
INCI formula: water (aqua), dicaprylyl carbonate, Cyclopentasiloxane, octocrylene, methylene bis-benzotriazolyl tetramethylbutylphenol, butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, glycerin, isononyl isononanoate, propylene glycol, peg-30 dipolyhydroxystearate, bisethylhexyloxyphenol methoxyphenyl triazine, lauryl methicone PEG/PPG-18/18 , methyl methacrylate crosspolymer, Ectoin, mannitol, xylitol, rhamnose, Fructooligosaccharides, Laminaria ochroleuca extract, decyl glucoside, sodium citrate, Stearalkonium hectorite, xanthan gum, lactic acid, propylene carbonate, caprylic / capric triglyceride, disodium edta, phenoxyethanol, chlorphenesin. It has 2 Tinosorbs and many antioxidants and moisturizers. Its a nice formula w/o being greasy. Makes a great primer for MMU |

| I beg to differ that Tinosorb is better than Zinc.Plus many of us don't want to put a zillion chemicals on our skin. |

Zinc oxide is too drying and the million butters and oils in zinc sunscreens is too greasy, so for me Tinosorb is better. <<Which was my point. Tinosorb is more stable as well.
Sunscreen choice is as personal as anything so Im not getting in between anyone and their sunscreen.
People's choices of skincare seem to contain a zillion chemicals. My skincare forms an antioxidant barrier between my skin and my sunscreen anyway. |

The physical sunscreens make me look ghostly. I use Clinique City Block Sheer on my face. I think it's a combo of physical and chemical and is tinted. I use it alone or under my foundation.
The only place I use a total physical sunscreen is on the back of my hands and I use Oleda's. The thick texture camouflages skin imperfections. I have to be very careful when applying it if I'm wearing long sleeves. If it gets on clothes you cannot get the stain out. I learned that the hard way when I wore it on my neck and ruined a couple of favorite tops.
I use Neutrogena dry touch sunscreen on my neck and arms. |

I have several samples of PC sunscreens. All are photostable. I like that PC offers trials sizes of skin care including sunscreen to try.
Sunscreen is such an individual thing and once you find one that you can use daily....ah relief. |
