Has anyone ever taken Spironolactone for adult acne? I started taking it yesterday as since I turned 40, my chin has been a mess most of the time.

I finally found a tretenoin I can handle and I use a BP scrub (Lelexo) daily and my chin has improved but once a month, I get a few cystic breakouts.

This feels like a serious medication so I would love to hear from others taking it!

I'm in the process of getting off spiro after 8 years on it. I was on it for acne and hair loss issues. It might have worked for that (we'll see when I get off it completely) but it proved to be very detrimental to my skin. It left me very dry and no matter what I did, I couldn't get moisture into my skin. I feel like it destroyed my top skin barrier which ironically caused more acne. Worst of all, my skin lost elasticity because of the chronic dry state. I didn't notice this until recently when I looked at recent pictures and noticed jowls. Now, some of that is aging - I'm 51. But at 45, I looked like 28 (so said many people at the time.) This is just my experience, but I have come to hate this medication. YMMV.
