In my teens and twenties I had an oily nose with blackheads and acne, so I made a practice of not ever moisturizing my nose. I used only drying products on it, anti-acne stuff mostly until I graduated to Retin-A. Still with the little black dots (threads?). Lately I haven't been putting anything on it at all, just using the Foreo Luna, sunscreen, primer and makeup. My nose looks fantastic! One or two tiny dots I can see only in my lighted 10X mirror. I'm not sure if this is because I'm not drying out my nose skin and causing it to be oilier or if I'm just old. Very Happy I still have an oily T zone, but my nose is bee-you-tee-ful.

So I'm curious. What should I have been doing all these years? What do you use on your nose? Moisturizer? Vitamin C serum? Copper peptides? All your facial products? Do tell.

Magnifying mirrors can be dangerous.

I personally think these create problems. "Flaws" that no one else can see show up in mirrors.

I would ditch the 10X magnifying mirror.

LOL! I'm not using the mirror to look for flaws. I can't pluck my eyebrows or put on eye makeup without it. I'm almost 58 and I can't see!

Mryna:

I am glad you are not looking for flaws! Some young ones will post (on another forum) that their pores look large, etc. But they are looking though a magnifying mirror!

I usually use all my regular skin care products especially sunscreen on my nose.

@Myrna.....yes, you've probably been drying out your nose all this time and your skin's been over-compensating. I had to learn the hard way too. Nowadays, I just use the same products everywhere on my face. I don't discriminate anymore.

I also have to use a 10X mirror. My eyebrows are white blonde and it's hard to see the strays otherwise. Wink

My skin gets congested so easily. I probably over exfoliate, but it works!

I use the same products on my nose as the rest of my face except for my oils and balms.

A few months ago, I realized I had blackheads on my nose. I started a nightly routine of a gentle scrub of the nose with Olay ProX exfoliating cleanser on a soft toothbrush, followed by an application of salicylic acid lotion to dissolve the oil plugs. It didn't take long to clear up the blackheads; now I just do it a few times per week to keep them away.
